Come join us to talk about the new Bethesda game Starfield. There has been some angry people who set really high expectations for the game and now are mad the game didn’t meet their fake expectations....
I consistently hear people on YouTube complain that the subscribe button doesn’t do anything for viewers, now that channel notifications are controlled by the bell. But it does do something: it puts the videos from that channel in your subscription feed, which is readily accessible on all versions of YouTube. So why do people...
For the record, I fully support what the remaining mod team is doing, they are a wonderful group and I trust them completely. I don’t regret the choices I made, only that my actions got a few other mods shit canned in the process.
Apparently one of the lemmy.ml admins was overzealous in banning all User-Agent strings that contained the word "bot". Bans were entered for all of the individual strings containing that word which were observed in their webserver logs, which impacted kbin's reported agent of "kbinBot"....
I know they roughly explained why, but it seems pretty insane they jumped the gun without having any of the users input and want people to go to another instance just for that community
I noticed that a lot of the communities that are hosted on there only have posts from a week ago. Thought they were just a bit dead, but checked on their original instance and saw they're more lively than that it's just not showing up on Kbin.
is Kbin.social defederated from lemmy.ml? I notice several of the lemmy.ml communities haven't been updated in a week but looking on lemmy.ml they have been updated much more recently.
Hello everyone! Long time redditor, first time poster to Lemmy.world. As I’m learning more about the Fediverse, I’m seeing there are several instances that seem to serve the same purpose. For example, Lemmy and Beehaw seem to be similar, yet they are still separate....
Yeah a bit of that feeling on Kbin, just refer to federated stuff as Lemmy. I'm fine with it though. Saw someone compare Lemmy to being the USA while Kbin is Canada
A lot of movies, especially horror movies (I’m watching one now) depict blind people as not having pupils. But my understanding, based on blind people I’ve met, is that the problem is usually in the lens or the retina, and that they have pupils the same as everyone else. Are there actually blind people out there whose eyes...
I have mine all enabled but I still haven't been getting notified of replies. Went and looked at my recent comments and found people had replied to them but I never got a notification

Why YSK: Beehaw defederated from Lemmy.World and Sh.itjust.works effectively shadowbanning anyone from those instances. You will not be able to interact with their users or posts....
Since Lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works had fully opened sign ups with no vetting during the big migration, Beehaw was getting a lot of trolls and spammers coming from those instances. Since Lemmy is kind of new there weren't enough moderation tools for them to fully deal with that with their team so they defederated until those tools exist.
I was looking at reddit today, and the front-page felt like nothing happened. I scrolled and scrolled and scrolled and clicked into comments. Everything is popping off buzzing with activity. All the subreddits I was subscribed to that went dark are now back up and business as usual....
Especially the very beginning, where they come up with the crazy plan to escape, somehow manage to actually pass the persuasion check they didn't think they would pass, then go through with the plan anyway because they worked hard on it.
I want the ability to customize the top bar with the magazines I want to be able to quickly access. It's a feature that is in RES you can shortcut any subreddit to be on the top bar.
Kbin is the first Reddit alternative I looked at and i liked the UI so I stuck with it. I kind of assumed everything would be kbin. I thought I understood things. I thought it was kbin and lemmy separate but they federated and so I’d be able to access lemmy stuff from kbin. Which I guess is true. But now I’m confused. I look...
They may be posted by people that are on lemmy, you can mouse over their username to see what instance they're from. Otherwise you can also install the kbin enhancement script with tampermonkey or something that would make anyone who isn't from kbin have an @(instance) after their name.
There is a substantial amount of spam and NSFW posts on the All page coming through already. Most NSFW posts aren't being tagged as such and are coming right through. Do people just not use the YouTube subscription feed?

Why is there such a large amount of communist and transgender related posts on the Fediverse compared to other platforms?
I am not criticizing them, I’m just out of the loop.

I just don’t have any more 10 year-old accounts to offer up to the dice gods.
With my recent de-modding and ban from the DnDMemes sub, I now have plenty of time to touch grass and help grow this community/instance. AMA I guess? (ttrpg.network)

Is there a major difference between Lemmy and Beehaw (or other federated instances)?

A lot of movies, especially horror movies (I’m watching one now) depict blind people as not having pupils.
