takeda,

I kind of don’t like to store my fingerprints with Google. Even FBI collects them when you are indicted.

What about allowing us to log in to services via asymmetric keys?

takeda,

No, it was all safe. She took the picture from the passenger seat while OP was sleeping.

takeda,

What car is this dashboard from?

takeda,

I would argue it is harder and more dangerous. With the phone you need to unlock it, select camera app, then make sure it focuses (which doesn’t work that great at night, you have to look at the screen, tap on the area you want to focus), second thing is that due to low light conditions to avoid blurring you need to be perfectly still (which is hard to do in a moving car, especially if you are driving), this makes you check the picture then retry, then check again etc.

You likely could spend even a minute looking at the screen to make sure you got a good picture. Each time you switch your eyes need to adjust their focus which also takes a second, but that it is insignificant to the rest.

BTW: even changing the radio station takes enough attention to cause accidents (that’s why they started adding controls on the wheel), but taking a picture (especially at night) is way more dangerous.

takeda,

I have Sony Xperia phone which has a physical dedicated camera button, that doubles as a shutter button once camera is activated. Despite of that, no matter how much I tried I failed to take a legible picture of back of my neck (I needed it to be sharp so I could send it to my doctor) and after many tries (even with using a mirror) I gave up and had someone to do it for me.

It is really hard to take a sharp picture of something close without looking, especially with low light conditions.

takeda,

I noticed that people who are using recreational drugs are disproportionally concerned about vaccine safety, which I find quite amusing.

takeda,

I never said that’s the only group though.

It is just surprising to me that you would get concerns about injecting yourself with not well tested medicine from that specific group.

takeda,

I love it, because it is not an over exaggeration like it happens most of the time with memes, but actual, real diagram for WordPress.

takeda,

The scary part is that it looks like you won’t even feel that you have been bitten, and will know that when you start having problems breathing, and when that happens every second counts.

Looking at the colors, it looks like it was in fight mode. The person holding it could already be dead.

takeda,

I would agree with you, but:

  1. Impeachment doesn’t lead to jail, if it did, trump already would have two sentences
  2. Despite it being a while ago and they claiming they have evidence, so far nothing was presented showing Biden in bad light (his 50+ year old son is not him)

It is unlikely that this investigation will show up Biden doing anything legal in that matter. They are hoping to find something else (like it was with Clinton) and in any case also normalize impeachment and show impeaching trump doesn’t mean anything, because they impeached Biden.

takeda,

Someone mentioned this recently, and now I am also convinced that the reason why it looks like this (and so different from the rest of their cars) is because they let Elon design it.

takeda,

So who is the person on the bicycle in this scenario?

takeda,

That clip with Laura Loomer and then saying they don’t support trump reminded me of the South Park episode where KKK were supporting the opposite side, because they knew people wouldn’t associate with them.

takeda,

Therefore the “life changing” aspect of it

takeda,

If the application doesn’t say anything about MariaDB or MySQL then it won’t work. The SQL statements are different enough that there needs to be an explicit support.

You could contribute and add support, but that might be a bit of work.

Also the glory days of MySQL are over. MySQL started with goal to be fast, and placed correctness as an afterthought. Meanwhile PostgreSQL placed correctness as the most important goal. As time passed, PostgreSQL made many speed optimizations, while MySQL was forced to replace fast MyISAM engine with slower but more correct InnoDB, but the old design decisions still cause issues. As an SRE I’ve seen multiple times where MySQL and MariaDB also corrupted its own data.

I actually don’t know your reasons to still sticking with it, but if you can I would recommend to give PostgreSQL a try it is much better experience for developers as well as for operations. There’s a reason that less and less apps support MySQL/MariaDB.

takeda,

If you would compare a server to a building, with its own street address, then port would be an apartment number for every application (tenant) living there.

Ports are what allowing you to run multiple applications and all can communicate over the internet. Without ports you would need to have a dedicated computer for every application.

takeda,

Back when there was exodus from digg people started posting links to stories on reddit to digg. I think the same should be done right now.
