simple,

I know the Linux community loves LibreOffice but OnlyOffice is just waaaay more user friendly overall, and the ability to have all the office suites in one window is wonderful. It’s become standard for me to replace LibreOffice with this as soon as I install a distro.

simple,

The entire app is open-source with an AGPL license (which is really nice). They do have pricing options for enterprise support, web editors, etc. which aren’t important. They may include some closed source code for these features but I’m not 100% sure.

simple,

I’ve said it before but active users isn’t indicative of anything really, the early numbers were inflated due to:

  • Bot instances before getting defederated
  • People instance hopping before staying on one instance (I made 3 accounts before deciding on lemm.ee, that means 2 that used to be active are now stale)
  • Early on there were a lot of small-ish instances that died off over time as people moved to more stable ones

Comments and posts are a much better indicator but it’s still not entirely accurate since it’s hard to tell how much of that is spam. I think it’d be nice if people stopped obsessing over graphs and just chilled out. I dumped Reddit a few months ago and it’s been pretty nice here.

simple,

Just play low-stakes casual games. I swear I associate getting sick with playing Bejeweled 3 in bed now.

simple,

It’s never too late to learn a language but it’s a bit of an uphill battle, and you’re not going to learn it by just watching shows. You need to practice regularly and understand the grammar and sentence structure. You also have to speak it with other people to get feedback, you can’t only learn to listen.

simple,

Copying from the old thread:

Nobara Linux. The official website is WIP but it’s essentially a distro aimed for gaming, with the important things like Steam and Lutris pre-installed.

I’m currently using it and it’s pretty good and reliable. It defaults to wayland though, you may want to go back to Xorg if you’re using an Nvidia gpu.

simple,

I dunno if I want a remaster, but I would love a sequel to Hexen. Something modern like 2016 but with that fantasy FPS flair.

simple,

I just can’t get over the fact that they’re selling this for $60. That’s already expensive for a 2D platformer, and this game doesn’t look that great anyways.

simple,

Wonder has pretty much stomped on Sonic in terms of reviews and general hype, so that’s not a great look for Superstars.

simple,

No good or evil, only wojack.

simple,

Still playing a lot of Lies of P recently while trying to go for 100%. I underestimated how long this’ll take honestly, it seems like you need to do 3 separate playthroughs and be very careful about easily missable quests and records. Same shenanigans as dark souls really.

Still, it’s a really fun game. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys the souls games.

simple,

Last time they hyped up their AI it was really inferior to ChatGPT. Lots of companies are claiming to be on par with GPT-4 and still end up having terrible reasoning, so I doubt it.

simple,

Is pcgamer allergic to putting the game name in titles? It’s Vampire Survivors.

simple,

Man that’s so exciting, I despise how boring the gnome lock screen is. The default gray background just looks so bland.

I can’t wait for Cosmic. I might even make the switch when it hits alpha, I’ve had quite enough of Gnome lately.

simple,

Reviews are generally what I’ve feared. The visuals and concepts are cool but the combat seems floaty and the game seems generally unpolished.

simple,

It gets better. According to Oroboro (popular pvp streamer), it looks like you can invade people of any level. Your stats will be scaled down but you can still use your overpowered gear and invade someone that just started playing.

simple,

Of course this article exists to advertise WSL.

simple,

Windows does actually have a Windows 11 version of ARM. The Thinkpad X13s for example does use it. It doesn’t seem to be widely available though, maybe because it’s experimental.

simple,

Yeah, they do sell a dock for it actually.
