Rip and tear until it is DONE.

Mick Gordon is amazing! I tweeted to him one time and he hearted my tweet. My friends and I played this soundtrack a ridiculous amount. Great pick.

The benefit to the radio stations in game is that you get the silly commercials and commentary too. I like the whole package together. Sometimes I’ll drive around while just listening too, which is fun.

Wow, I didn’t know he was one of the voices. That’s great lmao. I love how many celebrities they manage to get for the stations. Like Kenny Loggins, Frank Ocean, Iggy Pop, Kat Williams.

The Banjo games are such gems. I really need to replay those.

I haven’t played Lemmings since like middle school! Time to go find the music for it.

orca,

Tunic is such a masterpiece. I love all of the retro vibes and nods I get from it. I still have my old manual for Link and it’s fun to see the similarities side-by-side while playing Tunic.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

Yeah, same! I think what makes me okay with the GTA ones is that they play full songs instead of radio edits, and I’m sometimes distracted by the GTA world’s randomness, so I let it slide. Otherwise I hate when DJs talk all over the already-shortened tracks.

I find that I’m really calm in emergency situations. When someone (including myself) gets hurt, I have a way of being the guardian in the room that stays calm and gets things done.

I broke my wrist pretty bad at the start of the year, to the point that I had surgery done and now have a metal plate and 7-8 screws. When it happened, I was oddly in fucking zen mode–despite the pain. I called my wife calmly, instructed someone to call an ambulance for me (made sure to specify non-emergency since it was a closed fracture), and made jokes at the hospital and in the ambulance. I was even taking selfies during all of the hospital procedures so that I could document it.

Outside of that, I’m an anxiety and ADHD-riddled mess that can barely make a decision on what snack to eat, and feels like he’s productive at nothing.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

It definitely ties in to how our ADHD brains work. You’re right, it’s like we’ve prepped for every scenario our whole lives. It reminds me of the Futurama episode where Fry drinks 100 cups of coffee.

We use them daily for everything. They’re great but sometimes Docker likes to be a bastard and hang. VSCode spinning away.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

Sometimes simply rebooting does the trick lol. I find that it gets really wonky when you’re switching branches on a project often.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

This is a bummer because PocketCasts was my go-to for a long time. The Stitcher for Podcasts app might be a good option. I’ve heard positive mention of it, and it has a 4.8 on the App Store.

orca,

Oof. Good to know!

Twinsies! 💕 All of them adore that toy. Sometimes I’ll find it and it’s wet from someone chewing on it.

Capitalism is unsustainable. We’re seeing what happens in late capitalism. The belts tighten, the workers get left in the dust, the products consumers actually want get the axe.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

I guess that really depends on where you live. I can only speak on behalf of the US.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

That’s not really true though and it’s anecdotal. The anti-capitalist mindset might be growing due to awareness and people suffering at the hands of capitalism (continued layoffs, increased cost of groceries and rent, union busting, worker exploitation), but that’s because of the ever-tightening squeeze of late capitalism. When you have a structure that requires infinite growth to exist, in a world with finite resources, you end up with the current state of the US.

I think it would be more accurate to say that the anti-capitalist mindset among the working class has definitely grown in the US, but at its core, the US is pro-capitalist.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

You summarized the infinite growth aspect better than I did. This is exactly what I was referring to. Thank you!

I’m not sure where they are getting their info or how the US isn’t a capitalist hellscape. The US in its current state is exactly what happens when capitalism reaches a boiling point because all of the people driving it pursue infinite growth with zero accountability.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

Laws and regulations that allow capitalists to continue their pursuit of infinite growth. One of the definitions of capitalism is simply:

The concentration or massing of capital in the hands of a few

This is like a 1:1 definition of what we have in the US today, and our government enables, protects, and benefits from it. It’s “late” capitalism because it’s grown into a completely unsustainable system.

Late capitalism is the acceleration of growth and concentration of wealth in the hands of a few, with various crises being the result (layoffs, inflated prices, union busting, cuts in safety—e.g train derailments, etc).

I get old school Quake vibes from this. I love it.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

I used to play a ton of Quake 3 Rails only Instagib! I was hosting a Q3 server for a while not long ago, but just didn’t have the time to dedicate to it. Might be fun to spin up again. It would run 24/7 with bots so I’d just hop in and out during lunch downtime or something.

What a throwback.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

Wow, for the first time! Such a great experience. The goofiness adds charm. So many of my best and weirdest moments are from that game.

orca,
@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

I started replaying Grand Theft Auto V since it was added to GamePass. Aggalos, Sword and Fairy: Together Forever, Tunic, and started replaying The Elder Scrolls Online.

I’ve been all over the place lately, haha.

For me, the biggest selling point with Plex was that it was so readily available on TVs and other devices. I can basically throw it at almost anything. I also occasionally share access to my Plex with friends, so that ease of use carries over to them too. It’s great at getting subtitles I might be missing too, which is a big deal (my wife and I have subtitles enabled for basically everything).

tl;dr - easy onboarding for everyone and broad compatibility.

@orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts avatar

This is a cool idea. I was curious how subs work and it makes a lot more sense to me now that I’ve spent the time getting my instance setup and read a ton of docs. It feels weird trying to build your list and communities on your own account, while it also populates your instance’s All list. Feels like all of my interests are just out there flapping in the breeze lmao.

Checkout Somerville. It has its quirks, but I loved it overall. If you’re familiar with the game Out of This World (often referred to as Another World and vice versa), you’ll probably dig it.

Another one I recommend is Planet of Lana. Lovely little story and easy gameplay. This one really grabbed me and was an enjoyable, short playthrough.

I went through a similar period. Played a handful of easy-to-pick-up short adventure games.

This was the only tool that I was able to get running. I recommend it to anyone curious about running their own instance. I tried both the official Ansible and Docker instructions, and neither worked.
