nevemsenki,

If your ABS takes 5 minutes to react there may be an issue with your car.

nevemsenki,

It’s not exactly universal. In Germany, this can be interpreted as you warning of a pending emergency and trigger slowdown; they’d do thanks by signalling left-right-left-right rapidly.

nevemsenki,

Saying that out loud nowadays makes you a public enemy in quite a few circles, sadly enough.

nevemsenki,

How about not fucking around with UI just so some manager can meet the yearly bonus?

nevemsenki,

If your UI/UX elements have that deep ties with your deeper stack your codebase has big issues.

nevemsenki,

His odds were good, actually ; despite the near-constant rumours around the USSR space program, Korolev did his best to make sure the launch was safe as it could get.

nevemsenki,

Impacting a copter blade means immediate inspection. Bad job, Hydra…

nevemsenki,

Here, take these pills. Take 3x2 for two weeks if you hear the strange lady in your head again.

nevemsenki,

Garmin “Smart” watch. It doesn’t do apps but it does notificatios and is great for fitness… and only needs charging once a month. A watch that needs recharging daily is useless to me.

nevemsenki,

Because it’s a hassle. For example I need to lug a charger with me everywhere I go, which is especially annoying on longer trips.

nevemsenki,

Eh it’s all chinese to me.

nevemsenki,

Waiting for everyone to buckle in. Even that one person in the back.

nevemsenki,

One of the reasons I run often peeking downwards…

nevemsenki,

Ha, surprisingly good indicator where TV and radio broadcasting has been captured for propaganda.

nevemsenki,

OOMPA LUMPAS ARE MURDERING THEMSELVES!

nevemsenki,

It’s from an old youtube abridgement called “CodeMENT” from PurpleeyesWTF. Basically it’s like watching Code Geass (the old anime) while being high LSD, and probably a few other substances. That thing lives rent-free in my head for the remainder of my life.

nevemsenki,

Beats me. Maybe wrong thread?

nevemsenki,

Even a shitty (okay, maybe most like my D5300) DSLR beats any phone with proper lenses any day.

nevemsenki,

I’m ambivalent with them. I do still have my Gmail account, but I use my hosted and paid email more now… there’s enough horror stories about the kind of “support” you get if something happens to your free account.

nevemsenki,

Same question as No Man’s Sky, though. Sure, the game wasn’t good on release… but they stuck to it, fixed it, and now it’s better. So what matters more, that they screwed up initially or that they managed to patch it up over time?

nevemsenki,

Hope is the first step on the path towards disappointment.

nevemsenki,

If MS says it’s probably not like so.

nevemsenki,

If your server room generates steam you may have a bit of overheating issue.

Hot water is possible, but you’d need crazy insulated pipes and/or close buildings to heat before the water cools down too much.

nevemsenki,

Even LLMs are fuzzy though. Some are used in programming/code generation now for example, would that be also a waste?

What about other AI, like generating and testing software for ADAS/self driving cars? A bunch of those datacenters are HPC crunching.

nevemsenki,

Just about how many…? Like 6 years too late. FF market share on mobile is like 0.6%.

nevemsenki,

It’s a bunch of things. Not having extensions however removed a potentially differentiating feature, which certainly didn’t help.

nevemsenki,

I just counted, it’s 22… and there a lot of redundancy in there. So I’d say that FF on mobile had extensions technically. Want something as extreme as RES or some video downloader? You have with fiddle with nightly… which barely any average user would.

nevemsenki,

At firstglance, if AI art is copyleft, there’s no reason to buy/license the original from anyone; just include their stuff in the model and tweak the prompts until it’s close enough. Voila, free art! As long as tweaking the model is cheaper than buying art, the AI industry wins.

nevemsenki,

I feel this assumes two things.

  1. AI art would be used in products that can be copyrighted in the first place, and not things like marketing/political campaigns or decor.
  2. depending on the exact license agreement, you could use copylefted things in commercial products. The actual art can be free to reuse/share, but the rest of product may not be; things like illustrations in a book say (an analogy I drew up based on how Android works, commercial products based on a copylefted component).
nevemsenki,

Wildlife caretakers and rehabbers are probably my favourite people in society.

nevemsenki,

If you still pay the other 9,why would you even look for a machine though?

nevemsenki,

Still investing and taking recurring upkeep costs for something that may or may not yield more income.

nevemsenki,

TOTALLY NOT ASKING FOR SKYNET

nevemsenki,

I mean, it’s not like they managed to get AI assistants running on win3.1 or anything…

www.dialup.net/wingpt/

People should appreciate old but serviceable hardware. There is nothing about net communication that exceeds what an 566mhz core can do. At that point it’s just a question about porting a TLS/SSL library…

nevemsenki,

Reminds me of the most stupid way a german captain sank his own uboot.

nevemsenki,

Can’t wait for this AI bubble to fizzle. It’s the blockchain insanity all over again.

nevemsenki,

As long as LLM AI models are prone to hallucinating and there is no way to audit how they derive results (eg to verify accuracy), relying on them will have roadblocks/limitations. Once they solve this issue though, that will be a whole different story, I agree. As for other AIs such as image or video generation, I don’t have enough experience to tell…

nevemsenki,

To be fair, if they don’t do this, they will need to increase prices in poorer countries - otherwise someone will simply buy the phones on the cheap and resell them in more expensive areas.

nevemsenki,

Sure, I’ve personally got nothing against abolishing regional pricing and everyone paying the same price I do in the EU.

nevemsenki,

Even on Lemmy, simple but wrong answers prevail over complicated truths.

nevemsenki,

The average voter too, sadly.

nevemsenki,

I tried this and ended up with an 5m USB charger cable…

nevemsenki,

Of all the things in that picture, what bothers me still is why only London written in cyrillic?

nevemsenki,

Isn’t that what Bard is for?

nevemsenki,

It also makes life easier for everyone if you ever decide to share the account. Or if you intend to leave the acc to someone in case you kick the bucket.
