Imagine some guy working at InternetArchive replacing that file with anything else.

For example, the JS code redirecting the user to pornhub 😂

For now, I do not want to announce the name of this company publicly.

If they don’t want to solve it amicably, then I will do so.

@mypasswordis1234@lemmy.world avatar

Their site is just a landing page, there’s no login option or anything like that. Their business is a smartphone application.

Edit: Gmail uses SPF, DMARC and DKIM signing so spoofing is not possible if their email services are configured properly.

mypasswordis1234,
@mypasswordis1234@lemmy.world avatar

Anyway they should configure their systems to reject unsigned e-mails and providers that don’t have a proper SPF configuration. SPF (Sender Policy Framework) allows you to make sure that the message was sent by an approved server and was not forged by some hackur.

That’s really not cool that you’re upfront about your assumptions. I’m moving from Gmail to another mail provider and, in the process, deleting accounts I don’t use. Please don’t assume in advance something you have no idea about.

Is everything okay?

mypasswordis1234,

For some critical services (such as banks, hosting providers, etc.) I use ProtonMail. For the rest of the stuff, I have my own email server hosted at my home set up with a VPN tunnel to OVH (data is kept on a server at my home, but the server is publicly available from the Internet thanks to a cheap VPS from OVH). The most private is what you have full control over.

With this solution, I have full control over my data.

The purpose of this post was to find out if what they do is legal. That is, if I have the right to file a complaint. I’m not obliged to tell you the name of the company. I have things to do and I don’t care about “internet points”, as you call them.

mypasswordis1234,

Just use Firefox. Or LibreWolf if you want a pre-hardened Firefox. Remember to install uBlock Origin.

99 is 0:99 so 99 seconds. 100 is 1:00 so 1 minute so 60 seconds

I had the same problem yesterday, idk why

mypasswordis1234,
@mypasswordis1234@lemmy.world avatar

That’s because of the Unix philosophy: Write programs that do one thing and do it well. Write programs to work together. Write programs to handle text streams, because that is a universal interface.

The funniest thing is that people complain about Windows, but at the same time are afraid of switching to Linux. Linux has improved so much over the years that it is capable of doing most of the same things as Windows can do (and I don’t mean restoring the search bar every update)

Adobe doesn’t have a native support for Linux OSes, but you can try PlayOnLinux

Edit: There is also a winapps project that claims to support Microsoft Office and Adobe programs.

That’s the thing. I don’t.

Should I convince my mother to switch to ProtonMail?

Hey, My mother is a non-technical person, she’s a sole trader. She has been using Google services for many years and is probably used to them. A few months ago, I was able to convince her to set up an online password manager and calendar (up until now, she had been saving all her passwords in a handy paper calendar)....

mypasswordis1234,
@mypasswordis1234@lemmy.world avatar

Everything computer-related is already my fault (since I am the only technical person in the house) so I do not care 😅

mypasswordis1234,

Do you mean CloudFlare related stuff or privacy in general?

I hate how everything requires you to download a shitty proprietary data harvesting app nowadays when everything can be done just fine without an app.

I have recently started university and am required to use an app that has three Facebook trackers, one of them being a Facebook location tracker according to Exodus App Privacy, for the dining plan, when it would literally work perfectly fine using your student ID and ordering to a real cashier, LIKE HOW IT HAS BEEN DONE FOR...
