Croquette,

This is such a shit take. You brought people into this world, you owe them, not the other way around.

The good life is the bare minimum a parent should provide their child.

Croquette,

I don’t have a problem with boomers admitting that they fucked up. But what I have a problem with is them still doubling down and tripling down with the same crap even though we know it’s not sustainable.

With that said, you can have a good quality of life without fucking up the planet. A good life can be had without a vcr, or streaming services or many of the modern amenities that we use everyday.

We could use a lot less and be happier, but this goes against the current capitalism system led by old men. So yeah, I blame that generation because they refuse to see the reality and change their ways.

Croquette,

Joke’s on you. I’m past 35 for the next economic crisis.

Croquette,

Someone driving at the same speed as you is fine. The problem is when that person stay in your dead angle. It grinds my gears.

Croquette,

Capitalism is making the planet less livable for human. So yes, capitalism is driving humanity extinct.

Croquette,

Come to Quebec where everyone and their mother have a maple syrup shack.

Croquette,

It’s not a million dollar problem, it’s a few cents issue. You’ll be fine

Croquette,

Cash is needed nonetheless because when there is a downtime for whatever reason, it is not good if the only thing you have is a card.

Croquette,

How is bitcoin objectively better? That’s a pretty bold statement that needs some backing arguments.

They both have pros and cons, but until BTC have garanteed near instanteneous transaction confirmation, I don’t see how that would work at the grocery store for example.

Croquette,

That’s a weird take. A system is better because it’s free?

I re-read your comment and I missed the fact that you said online buying, sorry about that.

One advantage of traditional CC over Bitcoin is buyer insurance against fraud. If someone gets a hold of your Bitcoin wallet, he can take out everything and you have no recourse.

If someone steal your credit card and make fraudulent purchases, the transactions will be cancelled and you won’t be left on the hook.

Croquette,

That’s debit as well. I have protection against fraud on my debit card.

Croquette,

That’s the only thing we have, might as well go all in.

Croquette,

I am, do you have any good guide for that before I dive into deep google dives?

Croquette,

Thanks

Croquette,

Mod Nation Racers on PS4, you could do custom track. It was a really fun game and I liked the fact that you could defend yourself a little bit from items if you had enough boost and a good timing. Really had fun with that game.

Croquette,

Ultima Online with combat mechanics of soulslike.

Croquette,

If by law they need to never be under the written volume, then writing 618 means they need to put 618 * 1.03 in the bottle to make sure they hit the 618ml written on the bottle.

In your example, they would write 600ml on the bottle and fill it with 618 ml to account for the machine tolerance.

Croquette,

There is such a huge sludge of dumb and inane softwares that inevitably some people will work on things that they don’t care about.

Some people just want the paycheck and that’s fine.

Croquette,

Then why is it not applicable to nurses, or teachers or any jobs that have the government as an employer? Everyone was/is getting fucked by the inflation and we’re losing critical personnel by the spade while CAQ is voting themselves cushy raises way above anything reasonable. That’s the problem with the 30% raise.

They spit in our faces and people still find a way to justify it. Stop licking their boot and demand better from our elected officials

In Newfoundland, a handful of practitioners are taking on skyrocketing MAID requests (atlantic.ctvnews.ca)

But in the province’s eastern region, which includes the capital of St. John’s and is home to roughly three-fifths of the provincial population, the number of people seeking medically assisted death climbed from 16 in 2019 to 107 in 2022, McKim said in his briefing note. There were 37 requests in the first quarter of 2023....

Croquette,

Anyone that wants to end their life should be able to do so, regardless of their condition, as long as they are considered sound of mind by the current standards.

There should be a rigorous process, but at the end of that process, if the person still want to end their life, then they should have the opportunity to do so with dignity and no pain.

Croquette,

Let’s say he really only had a 28 000$ loan (which I doubt), he could still fail monumentally and not be destitute.

Then, when your parents are filthy rich, they usually have a lot of influencial people in their network.

If he really only had 28k in a vacuum, maybe that would be a different story. But he had the backing of the gem mine money + the network of his parents.

Let’s take Bill Gates. When he grew up, he went to a school that had a computer, that he was able to use. It is a big fucking deal at that time. Very few schools had computers, much less gave access to their students.

Croquette,

Because the pricing is fucking ridiculous for the ad free version of things. And even then, ad-free usually means ad-free for a limited time until the profit line starts to slow down.

Croquette,

It would be nice if it was that simple for everyone, but it isn’t. Migraines especially are debilitating for me and I will 100% take my pills over trying to ride the pain.

Sometimes, I know why I have a headache, but most of the time, it pops up for no apparent reason. Always had been since I was 10 years old. So fuck that noise, after a certain threshold, I take ibuprofen and acetaminophen instead of suffering for hours.

Croquette,

If you are salaried, it isn’t. But we know that salaried always mean you must work your full week and sometimes extra hours without more pay. But it never means you can work less hours with the same pay.

Croquette,

Show me on the doll where Quebec touched you.

Croquette,

When you leave Quebec towards Ontario, the road is significantly less bumpy.

Croquette,

If that can make you feel better, I wasn’t homeschooled, and I still needed to adjust myself as an adult (and still do every day).

You are a product of your environment and you shouldn’t feel ashamed sbout things you didn’t know any better.

Be proud of the fact that you embraced the culture shock and opened to the world to become a better person.

That’s a lot more than many people that had “normal” childhood (what is normal anyways?).

Croquette,

They usually still have their dumb OS bloated with pre-installed apps.

Croquette,

Or at least you are not losing your time waiting for them.

Croquette,

It sucks haha. All the time when switching between a terminal and a browser.

TIL that the judge in the Carroll rape case clarified that Trump did rape Jean Carroll (www.washingtonpost.com)

All the news headlines and verdict said sexual abuse, which was kind of vague, but I just found out today that the judge clarified that this was a matter of legal definition and by the verdict of the trial and the case, trump has been found guilty of penetrative rape.

Croquette,

There is also the notion that is not all or nothing depending on the proof for and against a defendant. You can ask for X amount, but only get X-Y because the proof against the defendant weren’t enough to grant all the X amount.

In criminal court, you are either guilty or not and then, if you are guilty, you can have factors that reduces or lengthen the sentence.

Croquette,

Stir at the beginning for 45 seconds so that the pasta don’t stick then let the boiling water move the pasta and cook them. Simple.

Croquette,

The parents. But still need to vent sometimes.

Croquette,

I see myself in what you described. My parents aren’t dead, but they separated when I was 12. My mom was an alcoholic that couldn’t keep a job and wasn’t there most of the time and my father was absent.

So starting from 12 years old, I had to cook, clean and do the best I could with what I had. Sometimes, there wasn’t much food.

It fucked me up(generalized anxiety with bouts of light depression). I realize that now. I might never feel normal and that’s fine but I sometimes wish I had somewhat of a present parent in my life.

Croquette,

Yeah, a lot of things that sucks when you are a kid are helpful when you are an adult.

I am the last kid of a family of 4 kids, so already there wasn’t much rules or discipline for me as the 3 other kids did a lot of things that my parents weren’t really stressed about a.lot.of.things anymore.

I would have appreciated more discipline to help me in my adult life as I struggled a lot through the beginning of my adult life. And still today, some bad habits remains.

Croquette,

They are already on their death bed when Gordon comes in.

Restaurants fails all the time with competent people. Imagine a restaurant being run by a dumbass.

Croquette,

My dumb person guess is that it needs to be in a perfectly straight line.

There’s probably more to it.

Croquette,

Working with Nordic Semi Bluetooth Stack was like that when working with it a few years ago. If you reach a breakpoint while the Bluetooth stack was running, it would crash the program.

So printf to dump data while it ran and only break when absolutely necessary.

Croquette,

Yeah. I mostly code in C because the tools come natively in C. I also do python and C# to create tools for my embedded projects.

Croquette,

I think that the rpi4 came out before the supply chain issue caused by Covid.

Before that, it was easy to get a Rpi. It was an issue getting any kind of electronic parts for any kind of project. You had to secure your supply for your production first before starting a project. It was never seen before.

Croquette,

It was the same for any electronics during covid. If you didn’t have any volume buy, the manufacturers and suppliers didn’t give you the time of the day.

The supply chain is better now and there is some availability.

Croquette,

That’s a fair point. I can see why they prioritized business customers, but their mission is aimed at education.

Croquette,

All that follows is simply an opinion. Take everything with a grain of salt. Feel free to discuss.

Human are social creatures and relationships is a basic human need. Where I am from, the government enforced a curfew and stopped people from having relationships with their loved one. Stories of people dying alone or women giving birth alone.

When basic needs aren’t met, we revert to survival instincts and try to meet these needs. To me, that explains why people that were seemingly caring turned out to be dicks when their needs weren’t met.

Shitty people were going to be shitty anyways.

For people that need less social interactions, it feels like it’s fucking bonkers how people were getting desperate for social interactions and throwing caution to the wind. It felt like they were crazy.

Just like an hungry man in front of a plentiful buffet, these people tasted social interactions and told themselves never again!

It was a short time in history where less social people were better off than the rest. After covid brought a lot of tension because social persons clawed back at what was acquired by the less social people.

And to me, that explains a lot of what we saw and see right now.

And again, shitty people are gonna be shitty people regardless of the situation, so that observation doesn’t apply to them.

Croquette,

I didn’t know the laws of physics were getting obselete. God dammit

Croquette,

Why not the type of AI? In that.case, LLM.

Unity issue an apology on Twitter for "confusion and angst" over the runtime fee policy. (nitter.net)

We have heard you. We apologize for the confusion and angst the runtime fee policy we announced on Tuesday caused. We are listening, talking to our team members, community, customers, and partners, and will be making changes to the policy. We will share an update in a couple of days. Thank you for your honest and critical...

Croquette,

The conventional wisdow is that in time of economic turmoil, companies should lower their profit margins and weather out the storm.

However, in today’s capitalism, this is not not acceptable. Shareholders demand ever increasing profits and anything short of that is considered a failure. If you don’t keep your margin, you are to be scolded and discarded.

Now, the loans that many of the companies have cost a lot more money than 2 years ago. So the enshittification is used to enable the continued growth to keep the profits growings.

Croquette,

With mental gymnastics better than what you see at the Olympics.

Croquette,

I was feeling cheeky and gave that one liner.

I haven’t watched the person in the OP post
