Google’s excellent and neglected note-taking app is getting some much-needed formatting options and overall love. Here’s hoping it’s not the last time.
I will need to get a laptop in the foreseeable future, and I really want to stick to Linux. However, I may need to be out-of-home for 12+ hours straight in a day. After some research, it seems people are generally not that impressed with battery life on Linux?...
I’m looking for a plain text editor (not a “notes” app like Notion or Simplenote) that automatically syncs to Google Drive or Dropbox and saves the notes as .txt files. Any suggestions?
I’m keeping it broad by not specifying a distro. I’m just curious is this a real option for actual editing professionals? As far as I understand you can make it work by running under Wine, but I’m guessing this comes with significant drawbacks. I’m having trouble finding any information on both the current state of...
-Yes editing is a key part of my job. Although it’s plenty of simple editing and almost no fancy effects and so on. I need to cut video edits fast, modify audio, crop and scale video.
-Shotcut loads instantly and runs natively on linux. That’s the biggest selling point for me. It’s extremely simple and has a clean UI. Also it handles .ts mpeg containers easily. Some apps, even premiere have issues with that format.
-I tried Openshot, Kdenlive and a couple of other apps. ShotCut was lighter and simpler.
I’m using DuckDNS currently, but am hoping to up my game with Caddy etc and want my own domain with more than the 5 subdomains. Any recommendations for providers?
I just found ChatAll and I have been using it on macOS and fell in love with it, it is so useful because IAs are not perfect (despite what Hollywood wants to believe lol) and having different answers from different services is so cool....
I’m looking into advanced distros (like arch) and slackware is fascinating. Is it still supported/used? If you’d like to comment an alternative distro, please do.
For me it’s Motorola G72. It’s excellent for the price. The phone is super lightweight despite having a 5,000 milliamper battery. The UI is very snappy and animations are very smooth (high refresh rate). It supports double tap on the back plus all other neat Motorola gestures. The under display fingerprint scanner works...
I’ve never used a Zenfone but a friend of mine is rocking a ROG phone 2. It’s the only phone I’ve ever seen with a display better than Samsungs. It’s also very fast and the stereo speakers are insanely good. I really wish to buy an Asus sometime but for now my Motorola Edge 20 Pro is too good to be replaced anytime soon.
I’ve recently bought a Motorola Edge 20 pro and sometimes it fails to sleep and the screen remains on although the screen timeout has been set to 30 seconds. How can I diagnose this? Is this a common problem with Android or some app is responsible for it?
Ok i think I found out what is causing the issue. I have an app installed called muscle wiki. When I open that app and play a workout video, if I go back to home screen the phone won’t go to sleep.
I’ve tried a lot of panels/sidebars/taskbars for Android but this one really stands out. It works so well you might think it’s a native android feature (i wish it was added to Android by default)....
Currently what’s the best way to create your “spin” or remix of a Linux distribution? It doesn’t matter which distribution it uses as a base. I just want to be able to 1.add and remove packages 2.be able to change deault settings easily.
I made this post because I really like the design of GNOME, and although i’d like customizability, it is mostly enough for my everyday needs. But I want to understand why people may choose other desktop environments…or why you would/would’nt use GNOME.
Turning Wi-Fi, data on/off on Android 12 is more difficult compared to previous versions. You have to stretch your fingers to the top of the screen to access quick settings, tap the new internet tile (no actual quick toggles) and that will open a menu for toggling wifi and data....
In my case it’s because I used an iPhone SE until a couple of weeks ago. It’s still a thing on their older phones and I think it makes more sense than the newer implementation. Notifications on top and toggles on bottom is the most sensible way to do it.
Unfortunately I have to switch between data and two different wifi networks. The key point here is that quick settings in general should be easier to reach, since modern phones have bigger displays.
I live in a country where wireguard, openvpn and other vpn protocols have been blocked. Tailscale and Cloudflare Tunnels don’t wok either.
