Any books on autism by autistic authors with higher support needs? Or blogs? We tend to center lower support needs voices and I want to make a point of using my position to elevate those who don’t get heard as much as I do 💜
If I've written a novella set a "high school" level academy, but the character is older than her classmates due to health issues keeping her out of school (so she's 17 and her classmates are 14/15)
„No! You‘re wrong! What a shit take! You have no idea what you‘re talking about! Stop the drugs, man!“ and the like.
After some discussion, people say:
„I have not thought of it this way. I got you wrong. We should actually consider doing it your way. You seem to have deeper insight than the average person.“
This often makes me question my place in this world. Anyone else? #actuallyautistic
Does anyone else have sensory issues washing their face?
I’m trying the curology acne treatment because my face has bad acne lately. It comes with a cleanser that you must use 2x daily. Washing my face feels like sensory torture. I’m doing it anyways. Not washing my face or using cleansing wipes is probably what caused the acne.
I was put in swimming lessons for years as a kid but I refused to learn because I didn’t like the feeling of the water on my face.
