An easy going software engineer that casually enjoys programming, playing guitar, and playing MMORPG games. Yadda yadda yadda, my opinions are my own, etc.

The reduction in generics exposed through the public API is a welcomed change. It’s been a while since I’ve used Axum, but I remember enjoying everything except the effects the generics had on how I could make calls and pass things around.

It is.

For me, personally, I would rather pick them up from the points store because of the lower friction to get them loaded on the Deck.

With BlueSky moving towards finally opening up federation, I'm interested in how people feel about it?

Would you be open to the idea of Mastodon, Lemmy, Pixelfed, and other Fediverse platforms adopting the AT protocol in order to federate with it?

If those technical hurdles could be overcome, would you support your instance federating with BlueSky?

Does the same go for other commercially-owned platforms, such as Threads and Tumblr?

I go where the people are and the technology serves me best. For now, it’s ActivityPub. If I end up liking AT and most people are on it, I will be there too.

I have been looking for a while now. The closest I have ever been was Anytype, but it is not as user friendly or refined as Notion because it is still in active development.

I think it’s an interesting experiment. If it survives natural human tendency to mess with things, then it could be a good process discovery that is further refined and implemented elsewhere.

I don’t have any reason to believe it’ll be a success, but that shouldn’t stop people from at least trying.

Some thoughts based on personal experience:

  1. File was edited after error was reported, but before investigating it. (Editing, code formatter, etc.)
  2. Build cache was not cleared, so old source was used.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot now supports prompting with voice and images (www.theverge.com)

TL;DR: OpenAI’s ChatGPT has added voice and image prompting for plus users, coming to everyone else “soon after”. You can now ask questions by speaking or uploading images. It uses advanced text-to-speech and image recognition technology, but with controlled limitations to prevent misuse.

I wonder if they will use the voice recordings to train their model.

At the scale we need it to, it matters.

I am going to watch the VOD later, but I get the feeling I will disappointed. Not sure what others are looking forward to, but there are somethings I really want to see but feel that I won’t (maybe ever):

  1. macOS Touch on iPad
  2. Desktop mode for iOS (e.g. Samsung Dex, not full blown macOS)
  3. Foldable iPhone
  4. Round Watch
  5. Dock to support multiple MacBooks

This will also likely be the last year I am on the iPhone Upgrade Program for a while unless they announce a foldable.

Now I am imagining Jack shimmying up the stairs as he’s singing the song.

Fashion Police Squad

Not the funniest I have played, but I definitely found it funny and fun.

Pessimistic: Apple lawyers have arguments prepared that DRM’ing individual components does not violate this law.

Less Pessimistic: Apple got a sufficient head start in supporting third-party repairs that it would be beneficial for them to get this law passed so that other manufacturers scramble to catch up.

What will probably happen is that people catch on that the content all reads alike and wonder why they shouldn’t just ask ChatGPT directly. Traffic to these sites die down, they panic, and start hiring writers.

How are you able to cook while working full time through the week? Do you have some kind of strategy? How do you plan your food?

We want to break out of this cycle of ordering delivery but at the same time, cooking everyday has been a challenge. We also have been trying to develop some sort of routine where we meal prep on the weekends but we live in an apartment with a really small kitchen so cooking and storing food for 5 days doesn’t seem doable....

I just buy premade meals from Trader Joe’s. Not necessarily their frozen foods, but their salads, wraps, and burritos.

Gonna give this a try later. This is a fantastic idea if the back and forth resembles a real interview. Can help people build up confidence before a real interview. The trick will, unfortunately, be how well an interviewee can write the prompt. A future iteration may want to offer pre-made prompts tailored for specific companies and their positions.

I understand needing to simplify the definition of these terms for the laypeople, but this was the best they could do? It seems they could not even bother with checking for misspellings.
