So this started coming up today. On every video. I can (so far) click the “x” and remove it to watch (still see 2 ads before the video, and one after 4 minutes - ruins music on YT), but did click the “Report issue” only for the dialogue box not to work....
There was even a time when Music Zone (store in the UK) would let you return cds. Well it was free reign to buy them, copy them and then return the original.
I recall having a printer that could print the album art on them.
Or even recording from the radio on to tape or mini disc. And even Smash Hits for lyrics.
You’re right, relationships with music were different than they are now.
I can’t lie though some things are better now. Take Apple Classical for instance. I can listen to the music entire collection of classical music by opening an app. It’s amazing.

Isn’t it a waste of time trying these scams on lemmy.
I could be wrong here but I would argue the vast majority of users are somewhat tech proficient since it’s not reached mass adoption and the user base is well, just us nerds?
I believe I said if I paid for premium they would still be selling my data. Premium doesn’t come with ads ergo they don’t need to personalise ads they’re not going to serve me.
Edit: I just reread my OC and concede I worded it poorly.
Google just announced it’s giving website publishers a way to opt out of having their data used to train the company’s AI models while remaining accessible through Google Search....
Think about it. Isn’t light+eyes and ears+sound just the same in terms of their “influence at a distance”? We don’t feel that as abnormal or magic - simply because we’ve sensors for them and are used to it. But physically speaking light and magnetism are based on electromagnetic forces.
Removable batter means you can replace the battery. Which also means you can keep it longer which means it’s better for the plant… ugh you probably don’t care if all you can think is huh duh it’s not like all the other phones.
I can’t fall asleep at 22:00. But my ideal schedule if I work permitted it would be 02:00 - 10:00. When I’ve kept this schedule before it’s literally night and day how better I feel.
I could go to sleep however early you like but I’d still be wrecked at 06:00.
If some humans can handle lactose and others can’t. Some suffer from migraines whilst others don’t etc. you don’t think it’s possible that we also have different circadian rhythms.
Perhaps you could exercise some critical thought. Maybe go read any of the various studies on sleep and make an informed decision rather than a knee jerk reaction.
Also, positive intent. Just assume people are being truthful for the most part. Life is easier if you’re not looking to shit on people.
You can’t guarantee anything of the sort, but fyi many of the routes are from road lanes, it’s London after all not much room for lateral space, but many places have put them at the side of the roads.
I don’t really complain about seeing ads in apps i didn’t pay for, but I do complain about seeing ads on public transit and in the world in general. I don’t want the world plastered with ads.
Hell they’re on the motorways here which seems ludicrous.
I don’t think you understand. I am not paying for them.
I have AC+.
Either you buy high quality screen protectors for your £1000 device or you don’t bother. The same for cases. Mous for instance are extremely durable, but not as good value as AC.
I’m 12 months in and not had a claim but best believe before the two year mark my phone WILL have an incident and for £79 I get a replacement with a new battery and all.
Or I could buy a case that holds no value, my phone can still break and then it’ll cost me more money. Than just having insurance which is guaranteed to make me whole again.
Just to add the extra info, I pay £9.99 per month for apple care.
Say I buy a case for £5 and a screen protector for £5 and I break my screen. I’m now out of£10 and the price of a new display, last time I looked it was £189, likely more these day.
So that one break costs more than the whole year of AC plus the excess.
Are you saying that if you have a case then you’re never going to break your phone?
Sure I could have a year without breaking it, but as I said after two I will break it on purpose to get my monies work and have a brand new (refurbished to new standards) handset.
Things have gotten better and progress has been made from times past, it just seems worse now because we have more access to information. We’ve come far, and have further to go!
I also think there should be reasonable limits on what data they can try to access. Like do Uber need to know my location? Obviously, whilst I’m using the app, but they absolutely don’t need to access my contacts.
