clay_pidgin,

It should be fun. The Fanfest presentations went well and players are cautiously optimistic about Vanguard. Dust was popular, but not successful commercially. In part, that’s because it was a console exclusive that tied to a PC-only main game. If anyone has questions about EVE, let me know.

clay_pidgin,

Sounds like you might fit in at c/patientgamers !

clay_pidgin,

This one! I haven’t learned how to link yet, sorry.

Oh I see you aren’t a sh.ithead.

Sh.itjust.works/c/patientgamers

clay_pidgin,

Yeah, it’s on Lemmy.

clay_pidgin,

Janet on The Good Place did a fantastic job too.

clay_pidgin,

I imagine they were trying to reply to CEREMENT about Python.

clay_pidgin,

While not the best game I ever played, it blew my mind. It’s extremely well done VR.

clay_pidgin,

Good old Dulles Airport.

clay_pidgin,

Saarinnen did a great job on the main terminal. The newer terminals are not as exciting, but they’re at least OK.

clay_pidgin,

It’s an upcoming feature in Lemmy generally, or you can find it in some third party apps like Connect.

clay_pidgin, (edited )

Care to share what you settled on? I’m a Windows gamer (inc. HTC VR) and occasional developer with some experience on headless Linux (Debian and Ubuntu) servers deploying and working on my programs. I’m definitely not confident as a Linux system admin, anything I’ve got working is down to finding a Stack Overflow question that closely matches my situation.

clay_pidgin,

Thanks.

clay_pidgin,

Maybe you can tell me what the numbers 196 are supposed to reference/mean. I’ve seen memes from there but there’s no theme that I can detect.

clay_pidgin,

That’s amusing. Thank you.

Can someone explain Usenet to a long-time torrent-er?

I’m a pretty heavy torrent user, running a media server complete with sonarr/radarr for automatic downloads. I download a lot, and have multiple TBs of upload on various private trackers. I’ve been torrenting forever, but I’ve always wondered about usenet. Over and over on this, and other, forums I see people saying that...

clay_pidgin,

Does the retention period mean that older content (say, a show from a decade ago) is less likely to be present?

clay_pidgin,

I was assuming that typically people only post really in demand stuff, but if the period is a decade, someone probably posted I dunno Bucky O’hare or Street Sharks in that time.

clay_pidgin,

Sweet. Thanks.

clay_pidgin,

Don’t pre-order games, people.

clay_pidgin,

An extremely good point. What a dirty practice.

clay_pidgin,

Lemmynsfw.com

And there’s another instance or two I saw in the browser.

clay_pidgin,

Like opt-in multireddits? That sounds cool.

A bit like recreating the old Yahoo! categorization of the web.

clay_pidgin,

I’ve had the same problem. Heck, half the time I go to a community in another instance it tells me I’m not logged in (to that instance), so the subscribe button isn’t even there. I haven’t figured out what I’m doing wrong, yet.

clay_pidgin,

I do not! That’s amazing.

clay_pidgin,

I can’t imagine that’s true.

clay_pidgin,

That sounds pretty damn scary. What did you do about it?

clay_pidgin,

That sounds harrowing. I’m sorry that anyone has to go through that.

clay_pidgin,

I think they are doing image transcription for visually impaired sh.itheads.

clay_pidgin,

I use the app Connect for Android which has an insurance blocking feature already. I don’t see posts or communities from their users, and when they comment on a post I can see, the content of their comment is collapsed by default. I can still see it if I click. It’s a good system, I think.

clay_pidgin,

Maybe you have a career ahead of you in massage or clay sculpting!

clay_pidgin,

Is the bread a thickener in the soup or a garnish after cooking?

clay_pidgin,

…wikibooks.org/…/Cookbook:Stoofvlees_(Flemish_Bee…

That sounds pretty good! As a non- beer drinker, I never have beer to hand for recipes. Maybe I can bum a bottle off of a neighbor.

clay_pidgin,

I’ll certainly try it - thanks!

clay_pidgin,

Makes sense. Thank you!

clay_pidgin,

Also, Computer: Remove the wife.

clay_pidgin,

“quartering”?

clay_pidgin,

Just what the world needs. Hurray.

Thank you.

clay_pidgin,

I was reading a book in class, and after finishing it my Earth Sciences teacher asked to read it. He never gave it back and swore for years I never lent it to him. It was a book one of a series that my dad had given me.

Princess of Mars, book 1 of Edgar Rice Borroughs’s Barsoom series. The edition from the 70s. I just recently found new copy of the missing book at the used bookstore so I could complete my shelf.

My kids know this teacher’s name, and call him my nemesis.

clay_pidgin,

I’m a big fan of bread. What kind of carb are we talking here?

clay_pidgin,

Diet Dr. Pepper. I genuinely don’t drink water at all some weeks. It’s probably a problem? I AM collecting those sweet Dr. Pepper points, though. Got me a hat, backpack, apron, tumbler, 6 can mini fridge, can cooler, etc.

clay_pidgin,

Here in the USA, corn bread is a specific thing, more cake-like than bread loaf. I don’t know where you are in the world. What kind of corn bread do you have?

clay_pidgin,

Ooh that looks excellent. Converting from grams to furlongs and hogsheads so I can try making it.

clay_pidgin,

Perhaps a little, but I will try to bake it. It looks good!

clay_pidgin,

I appreciate all the info, thank you!

clay_pidgin,

I’ve only played the Jaws of the Lion version on tabletop but it’s SO GOOD.
