chepox,

This looks really cool. A proper metreoidvenia + prince of Persia action. Let’s wait for reviews, but keeping my eye on this one for sure.

chepox,

Damn. Any source on cause of death?

chepox,

OMG. I got 8.95% for a 25yr mortgage and it was an awesome deal. Market was about 13.5%. Your numbers are really just free money from where am standing.

chepox,

Clickbait article.

The idea behind Godzilla: Minus One as the title is to indicate that Japan was at zero - the country’s lowest point - after World War II. From being on the opposite side of the war to the Allied powers of WWII to the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan was in an incredibly dire state in the 1940s. In the film, Japan’s restructuring as a country is worsened immeasurably by the emergence of Godzilla and his subsequent attacks against the country, hence the title of Minus One as Godzilla’s wave of terror takes the country below zero>

chepox,

So I used bings chat bot to summarize the article to the same length as the other bot and this is the result (you be the judge) :

!Carlos Vasquez, also known as Rattlehead, is a professional gamer who relies on sound to play Mortal Kombat. Carlos, who is completely blind, started playing video games at the age of six in 1992. He was diagnosed with a type of glaucoma when he was 11, which slowly took away his sight. Carlos relies on hearing the specific sounds of the characters to make his attacking and defensive moves. He is able to pick up on the distinct sounds of the characters and use them to his advantage. Carlos found that most mainstream games were almost impossible to play without gaming accessibility features. Back in his 20s, Carlos was able to play some fighting games, and in particular Mortal Kombat, because he was able to pick up on the distinct sounds. For example, he recognised that the character who started on the right side of the screen would grunt at a slightly higher pitch than the one on the left. This allowed him to work out which character he was playing¹.

Buy her a spa day or coupon with a massage or something nice that she likes and include the hair removal option as extra.

Once done make sure you let her know how much you liked the shaved areas. Hopefully she will catch on and continue doing it herself. Otherwise repeat the process. There are even some places where you can buy monthly subscriptions she can go to.

Avoid confronting her on this. Not worth it and you could hurt her feelings. Of course it depends on your relationship with her. If both of you feel comfortable talking and discussing such topics then go ahead.

chepox,

I read the replies and they were all smartass funny comments but there was no real answer or discussion so I decided to start one.

Dave the Diver Is Getting a Free Update Crossover with Dredge | Game Awards 2023 (za.ign.com)

Dave the Diver is getting a free update that will bring the creepy creatures of Dredge onto its menu. It will introduce a new “fog” weather event that will contain the Dredge content, the ability to drive Dave’s boat around like you do in Dredge, a new night map, the ability to catch aberrations, a new weapon, and new...

chepox,

I just finished the game. It was a lot of fun. I found it a little slow at times and some QOL stuff might make it even better but it is still a great game.

chepox,

I hate that when I click on the Settings for a Notification I do not get any information on the category of the notification. You have to go into 3 settings to get to your notification history and there it shows the category. Bad phone!!!

chepox,

No mention of Spider-Man Across The Spider verse?!!

How dare you. Best movie 2023 hands down. Give it all the Oscars now and get it over with.

chepox,

My money is on Baldurs Gate. Haven’t played it but the hype is real. And this is a public vote so…

chepox,

My Samsung phone does have that feature in the My Files app that comes pre installed. I don’t use it because File Manager+ is so much better. And I have access to my SFTP, LAN and NAS. I am not associated with the app. Just enjoy it and recommend it because I find it very useful.

chepox,

I just built a laptop and I always choose Mint. I used the XFCE spin and it failed me. Everything worked well except the second monitor screen. I just could not get it to display proper 1080p. I tried forums and changed a bunch of configurations.

I ended up getting Fedora on it and it worked out of the box. Oh well. Fedora it is then.

chepox,

They dropped off the kid in a park further down and then left the truck a few miles after. Kid was OK.

What do you all do on your phones that isn't doom-scrolling or mindless mini games?

I find myself checking out pretty often and just making myself feel bad about the state of the world, or killing half an hour on stupid games that I could 100% live without. This is probably pretty common, and I’m wondering what other people have found as a way to do more productive things with their phones in the downtime.

Nicely said! I had the same feeling but just didn’t know how to put it into words.

Every single person I know or meet uses WhatsApp. About 90% of the businesses I interact with use WhatsApp Businesses. My whole family uses WhatsApp.

Moving to another system is going to take a lot a lot of work.

Just so you guys know, Mexico did away with DST last year. It’s been great not changing the clock twice a year.

Come on US… Stop dragging your feet.

chepox,

FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution). The feature is expected to come to the company’s next-generation flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24. This technology renders a game’s graphics at a lower resolution to improve frame rates and then uses AI to upscale the resolution. This way, you get higher frame rates at the cost of a slight downgrade in graphics details.

Just if anyone was wondering what FSR meant.

Is taking their land effective though? Wouldn’t it just spawn cells within the newly acquired territory or other regions and continue?

So much hate can only spawn more hate.

chepox,

Sample size is relevant as a proportion of the difference you are looking for.

For example:

Sample A: 1.1, 1.3, 1.5, 1.2, 1.1

Sample B: 345.3, 323.4, 322.3, 355.2

Determining a statistical difference between these two groups where a meaningful difference is 20%, does not require more samples. The chance of error on making a claim that A is less than B will be quite low.

Not saying that N=18 in this case is sufficient, just stating that the number alone does not give you enough information to determine whether a claim has weight to it or not.

chepox,

I have never pumped my own fuel on my car except when I visit the US. I feel like a 7 year old handling that pump thing. Happy I don’t have to do that where I live.

chepox,

Here folks and interactions are better. Content is quite lacking. I have a few niche interests that are nowhere to be seen around here. I have not gone back to Reddit and I think my life overall is better for it. My 2 cents.

chepox,

I feel like I will have to revisit this comment in a few years with ‘aged like fine milk’… Hope I am wrong.

chepox,

Same here. Guess it’s up next.

chepox,

Could you add a seedbox as a source for plex?

chepox,

This is what we do. We have tried using a shared player with limited success because we all have different setups (PC connected to TV, Plex Streaming, Apple TV Stream, etc). But I am always looking for a more elegant answer. Hopefully someone here might have some new tech.

chepox,

We have tried this before and usually the video and audio quality go to shit. Source is 1080p streamed video looks like 144p. Tried Zoom, Jitsi, Teams, Telegram, FaceTime. All with very similar results. So far the best solution has been sharing a copy of the file and playing on the count of three.

"Microsoft’s blog adds caveats, such as that Excel avoids the conversion by saving the data as text, which means the data may not work for calculations later. There’s also a known issue where you can’t disable the conversions when running macros. "

This sounds very half assed…

chepox,

Try Power Toys. It’s made by Microsoft and the Power Toys community and it’s free. It has a module to rebind keys just like AHK and it works really well with no admin access. It has a bunch of other nifty tools. I love it.

chepox,

No need for side loading apps. So works on all phones. Phones that are remotely admin have this feature off.

chepox,

Which patch is that? I would love to have that in my FF.

chepox,

Is there a megathread around here? Can someone share a link if it does exist?

chepox,

Does this redirect to freemovies.properties?

Also, not good. It just redirect to a sign up on some other site. Fake site. Ignore.

chepox,

These things behave really strangely as compared to other bugs. I found one on my yard the other day and as I walked by, I saw it was following me with its head. I went back and forth to make sure I wasn’t imagining it. Nope it was intensely looking at me. So I thought… Perhaps it’s just assessing a predator and keeping it in sight is a useful survival instinct. Then the mofo jumped at my face. Calculated jump and attack. I grabbed it and put it in a turned over glass and it was pissed at me and continued to stare me down. I had some friends over and they looked into the glass too but nah thing wasn’t looking at them. It was looking at me and it looked pissed. I fed her a moth that was flying around by putting it inside the glass with it thinking… Its not going to attack the moth, mantis is probably terrified. Not a time to eat. So I thought. Damn thing proceeded to eat the head of the moth while it kept looking at me in disdain. I had to let the thing go. It was too sentient to be squashed as a bug. So I freed it later that night and made sure I closed the garden door behind me. I don’t want that thing strangling me in my sleep.

chepox,

These guys are heroes. Doing their job, but they came in clutch and saved millions of lives.

chepox,

Right on! Thanks for sharing this!

chepox,

+1 Smart audiobook. I paid for mine to get the extra options and ad free experience. Totally worth. The best audiobook player out there.

Pocky cause my kid couldn’t say Rocky so we changed it.

Looks at title… ‘Hey I know some of these words…’

chepox,

I have a water container I need to take care of in my house. An ultrasonic sensor hooked to my raspberry 3b uploads the collected data to my vps that later serves an html through Flask to show the water level. It has a few alarms so that I can take action at the appropriate time. The ultrasonic sensors HC-SR04 suck and I have to replace them quite frequently. Other then that it works really well.

chepox,

I am sucker for these things. I have a small laptop I keep around for menial tasks and I use Mint on it. I wanted to change it for a while and this article just tipped the balance. Fedora here we go! Although I will be using Xfce for it’s lightweight.

But… Yay Linux! Yay Fedora! Yay OP!
