Terrorvision were the first rock band I heard and was like, 'this is it'. In was sat on the floor in the living room listening to the radio on big ass 80's headphones and Alice What's the Matter came on. I was hooked and from then on I've been a rock and guitar fan. You just can't beat a good overdriven rock guitar sound it's magical.
I run a small business and would like to use Linux for its free naturet. Is there a way to lock down linux using software or a whole distro that would prevent people from doing pretty much anything other than opening a web browser similar to Windows or ChromeOS. I would use ChromeOS, had it not been made by Google as I am not...
Yes. Pressure and temperature are the main factors influencing the speed of sound through water, which is very important when calibrating sonars as you need to know how quickly the sound will travel to know how far away a response is.

I suspect it's networking. Every damn app links to something on a network and network calls are slooooow. Try opening apps on a machine that has a network connection but no internet access and it's a really bad experience. It's like they have to phone home before they finish loading and they'll sit there stopping everything until they timeout.
I dont see much advantage over Firefox with some extensions. Plus I'd rather support a non-chromium based browser as we're dangerously close to ending up with the www == chromium only and I think that'd be terrible.
The only reason I can think that people who want to make a new browser dont fork Firefox is because firefox can already do whatever it is they want to do in their new browser via extensions. This is only a recommendation for firefox in my eyes.
I wanted to get a pulse check on how new members are finding the general experience/website. Is it more confusing than Reddit or are you finding the instance system a better way of doing things as it can give you more freedom of where you choose to create an account?...
I have an Ubuntu VM running on my Proxmox server. It just exports some folders over NFS that I mount from my laptops and PC. Then I have Nextcloud running in a separate VM so my phone can upload photos. The NC storage is all the NFS mounted folders from the NAS. Simple and works.

Is water denser at the bottom of the ocean?
The deeper you go, the more water above you is pressing down on you. Does this increase water density the deeper you go?
