If y’all have PS3, Lord of the Rings: War in the North. Specifically a 3 player co-op game. Like actually 3 player, not 4 player where you don’t need a 4th. I enjoyed it and have good memories playing with friends, it’s really fun and silly and the servers are still up.

I haven’t read a whole book in years, but I was just at a second hand shop today and picked up the first few books in Terry Brooks’ Shannara series. I intend to finally read the series my mom always wanted me to try.

That’s the real meat of this. The future of models will be these smaller, focused “patches” that have some kind of traceable lineage. At least when it comes to marketing and selling these.

I am thinking about iCloud that offers 3 aliases, but actually I need 5. Does iCloud has a catchall-option?

Yes they have a catch all option, setup took a minute for me using my domain setup in Cloudflare, Apple’s documents/guided setup made it a breeze and it’s been rock solid.

It doesn’t rely on self transmission. It can but you can detect and range other sources without generating it yourself.

How to de-radicalize my mom's youtube algorithm?

She’s almost 70, spend all day watching q-anon style of videos (but in Spanish) and every day she’s anguished about something new, last week was asking us to start digging a nuclear shelter because Russia was dropped a nuclear bomb over Ukraine. Before that she was begging us to install reinforced doors because the...

Create a new YouTube profile with the same name and picture and set it as the default watch profile. Then just preload it with subscriptions from a varied amount of content and a few stray likes here and there for content she might like in general. Don’t mention what happened and just remove the old profile after a while.

Gotta get it out of system so this place feels more like home to more people.

#1 still holds it for me. The overall shape scales the best from tiny icon to larger mascot.

One on the right is much better, has a lot more “life” to it.

Every single vm in my home lab is Debian, from the minimal installer, running on proxmox which is Debian based. Every new install is ~7 minutes and has been so stable that my uptimes are only under 100% because of yearly power outages longer than my UPS can handle. Average uptime is ~half a year on each box.

This article calls 'Arrival' as 'One of the Best Sci-Fi Films of the Century' but was it? I tried it and I was like ... 'meh' (www.msn.com)

spoilers ahead I felt like the character conflict arcs were contrived and ultimately the idea of learning a language makes you a pre-cog fell flat for me. In science fiction, the big idea goes 'woo!' or the characters go 'woo!' but in the case of Arrival, nothing really went 'woo!'...

That was one of my favorite episodes of TNG.

Indeed. These days on any social media, there’s a critical threshold for user generated content creation. Different for every platform and as social media expectations change over time. I think the fediverse has a real shot at sustainable growth thanks to Twitter and Reddit enshittification. Being able to see new content daily or even hourly as a measure of critical mass seems to have been reached here and it’s beautiful to witness!

YSK adding tags will make your posts more discoverable on the wider Fediverse (kbin.social)

On KBin we have the ability to add tags to posts. These can either be directly added using the “pound” sign octothorpe, as in #KbinMeta. You can also add tags using the “Tags” field when creating an article, link, or photo. The second method will append the tags to the end of the post when the post is federated....

This is where LLMs like GPT should be applied. Parse a post and recommend tags based on the content, allow the user to just select which ones to use. This is how we leverage these models.

Reddit removed moderators behind the latest protests before restoring a few of them - restored by a different admin than the one that removed them... (www.theverge.com)

"Soon after we published this story, one of the r/MildlyInteresting moderators told The Verge that the entire mod team has now been reinstated — and by a different admin than the one that removed them. The mod’s account had received a 7-day suspension, but that has been reversed, too, they said. A Verge commenter who...

A Reddit civil war, so to speak? How many times do they have to directly tell every user they mean nothing to them for people to understand.
