_Sc00ter,

BRAWNDO. ITS GOT WHAT PLANTS CRAVE

Any idea what Google are doing? Is this because I dont use Chrome (use Firefox)? I've no adblockers. (lemmy.world)

So this started coming up today. On every video. I can (so far) click the “x” and remove it to watch (still see 2 ads before the video, and one after 4 minutes - ruins music on YT), but did click the “Report issue” only for the dialogue box not to work....

_Sc00ter,

I have to disagree with you that it’s not a form of payment. How many platforms offer a subscription model to go ad free? Ads are a revenue stream for any given platform. You either pay the platform with your money, or your time watching ads.

If you disagree that you can’t pay for things with your time, then we will have to agree to disagree

_Sc00ter,

It’s a small price to pay for a corroborating witness. This guy is a footnote, at best, in this story.

_Sc00ter,

Canadian, probably? Niagara is on the usa/Canadian border

_Sc00ter,

You realize that quote is from the Jewish victim in the story, right?

_Sc00ter,

Fraud is just good business practice! He’s so smart for that

_Sc00ter,

Yea I guess I should have used /s on that comment. That’s exactly what I was referencing

_Sc00ter,

It’s funny that you used 2x4-8 as your example for length, because a 2x4-8 stud is not actually 8 foot. If you’re looking for 8 foot 2x4, you need to be careful that you are buying true 8 foot boards, and not 8 foot studs.

That being said, that’s the only board I’m familiar with that has a length that’s not always true length

_Sc00ter,

Now throw in a being a single parent!

I honestly don’t know how people do it. When my wife’s out of town for a week, nothing gets done beyond basic survival. I don’t have time to do any other chores, and I only work 1 job.

_Sc00ter,

I never had more time than living alone. Having a spouse and 2 kids is mayhem.

The kids make the things you mentioned impossible. I’m up an hour before them to get the day going. Then it’s getting everyone together to get to work and daycare. Pick up kids from daycare after work, cook/have dinner, a little down time (like 30-60 minutes tops) which is spent with my kids, then it’s baths and bed time routine for both of them. At this point, it is somewhere between 8 and 9, depending on how bedtime went and you haven’t even cleaned up dinner or their lunch stuff. Now you can’t leave your kids alone in the house, so you can’t run any errands.

If you have practice or activities after daycare, push everything back another hour or 2.

It’s a lot to do, which is how I dont understand how single parents do it every single day. I can handle it for a week, but a lot of routine chores don’t happen. Things like a load of laundry goes in at 10p and I pass out and it sits wet until the next day.

_Sc00ter,

This was in reply to “when my wife’s out of town for a week.” And me talking about how i have no idea how single parents do it… So… not there. When she’s home, the duties are split and it’s manageable

_Sc00ter,

We have a saying in the brewing community, “don’t yuck someone else’s yum.” Everyone has different tastes. Let them enjoy it even if you don’t. It’s not hurting anyone. And that goes beyond beer

_Sc00ter,

Part of that is seasonal. You’re not going to get a stout in the summer, just like you’re not going to get an Oktoberfest in the spring or a Shandy in the winter. Like you said about IPAs, there are so many variations, they’ve become a year round beer. Other year round beers are things like lagers and ales. Comparing a seasonal style to a year round beer isn’t a fair comparison

If you can’t find a stout on tap in the winter, you’re going to the wrong breweries

_Sc00ter,

Just because you drink them year round, doesnt mean most people do. They dont brew them in the summer because they cant sell them enough to make it profitable.

You definitely have a point there about only having ipas at a brewery. IPA is the easiest beer to make, and the easiest beer to hide any imperfections. 1 of our 2 main breweries in town basically only does IPAs. Took them like 5 years until they did something that actually was good and not an IPA

_Sc00ter,

You’re seeing NFL on lemmy? I don’t see it at all and wish I did. Where can I find it

_Sc00ter,

And that guy in your pic is 54, pushing 55. Nowhere near 35.

_Sc00ter,

There is absolutely a hole in that wall under the picture taped to the wall

_Sc00ter,

most of these Republicans didn’t watch or read even a summary

Why would they? It’s all fake news

_Sc00ter,

I’m here. I miss some of the smaller communities I used to be apart of. I go back if someone sends me a link, unless it’s NSFW. I don’t have the app, so I just tell people I can’t see that link anymore. shrug

_Sc00ter,

Speak for yourself. My company only stopped using Fortran this decade.

_Sc00ter,

That was pretty old to have a 1 year old at the time. Pretty standard these days, but in the 90s most everyone was having babies early/mid 20s

_Sc00ter,

Don’t often see jags on the internet. You throwing back an IC right now too?

Remote or hybrid workers, would you rather work a 4 day week on site, or WFH completely for 5 days a week, for the same pay?

I know this will vary a lot, so hypothetically let’s say you currently WFH/work remotely at least 3 days a week. Your commute to work takes an hour max (door to door) each way. If you were given the choice of a 4 day week working onsite, or a 5 day week WFH (or as many days as you’d like) for the same pay, which would you...

Financial Independence, Retire Early

_Sc00ter,

I honestly have no idea what they stand for. Their posts are so confusing and non coherent. I’m sure a lot of it is because sarcasm doesn’t work with text unless you have context. But without context, all it comes across as is a bunch of trolls who just love to hate

I couldn’t care less about them

_Sc00ter,

I dont understand. Is there something wrong with being free?

_Sc00ter,

Ah so you’re just generalizing. Got it

_Sc00ter,

I work for an international conglomerate. One of our major pieces of internal software is SUSAN named after the guys wife. I’ll never remember his name, but his wife will always be in my mind

_Sc00ter,

Why wait for them to ask you?

_Sc00ter,

My wife had been after me to go to couples therapy. I was convinced we didn’t need it. After a while, I just scheduled something and sent her an appointment notice. Figured if she thought we needed it, I’d give it a try.

She called the therapist and cancelled our appointment soon after i sent her the notice. She claimed, “we didn’t need to spend money on that right now.” She hasn’t brought it up since.

No idea what that was about

_Sc00ter,

You made it further than me. I was an absolute completionist in OOT and when I started MM, I just extremely put off by the reset time and do things over again. I wanted to finish what I was in the middle of, but having to be interrupted and even plan what I was going to do rather than just explore and fumble through things really bothered me. I really don’t think I made it through more than a handful of time resets before I gave up

_Sc00ter,

Just had a sixer of Victory Sour Monkey. They soured a Belgian Tripel. It’s awesome

_Sc00ter,

It’s the yeast baby

_Sc00ter,

Assuming you’re in the northern hemisphere, yes? Wait until it’s not 100 degrees out and they’ll be back

_Sc00ter,

Drove a manual for 15 years before I got a more family friendly car.

_Sc00ter,

doesn’t mean shit

It could to people it’s targeted at. I know a lot of devote catholics because I was raised in that faith. Some of them might actually listen to these comments from the pope. At the very least, if they defy the pope, then they’ll at least stop affiliating with the church.

If they stop affiliating with the church, that’s a win IMO. these people don’t follow Jesus

_Sc00ter,

Honestly, I consider that a win. A huge reason I left the catholic faith wasn’t because of the religion itself, but because of the people who claimed to follow Jesus but in practice did nothing like Jesus.

_Sc00ter,

*catholicism

_Sc00ter,

I just think he’s saying that the interpretation needs to adjust to current times

_Sc00ter,

Almost 20 years later. Would he have still been acting without dumb and dumber?

_Sc00ter,

My company has this and just about everyone I work with utilizes the unlimited time off. Most people land in the 5-6 weeks of vacation a year + sick + personal business + holidays.

There are the few who make work their hobby too, but you can’t do anything for those people IMO

_Sc00ter,

Personal business is for things that need to be done touring business hours but aren’t vacation. Things like doctors appointments, meeting a service person to fix something at your home, or some delivery that requires you be home. Those kind of things

_Sc00ter,

Wait, your interest rate on your mortgage changed after you signed it? That’s whack

Is it possible to burn fat without changing my weight?

I have been working a very labor intensive job for about 3 months now and have lost enough inches on my waist to go down two pants sizes yet my total weight when I go on the scale remains around the same. How is it possible that I lost 4 or 5 inches off my waist yet the scale doesn’t change? Is it possible what weight in fat I...

_Sc00ter,

providing science

this is my personal experience

This might have something to do with the down votes. You’re using your anecdotal evidence and providing it as science, and you seem to be aware and confident of it

_Sc00ter,

My neighbor is doing FSBO right now. He posted 12 pictures of his house. 4 are inside, and they only cover the kitchen and main living space. No bedrooms, no bathrooms, no basement… I don’t understand

_Sc00ter,

This is genius. I usually just get my blower out to break up the clumps, but I might give this a go

_Sc00ter,

Does it change your wall paper every day?

_Sc00ter,

I’ll have you know I looked at every single one in this thread
