Do they even have another submersible?

So how will Meta attempt to kill activity pub in terms of embrace, extend, extinguish?

I propose a new title to this post:

What would happen if every barrier to voting was removed vs what would happen if Republicans were allowed to implement all of the voter suppression tactics they can imagine.

This is the only thing that would work in my opinion.

Let the older generation stay on Facebook. We don’t want them out in society.

Let the trolls stay on Twitter, let the types of people whom defend Spaz stay on Reddit, and let the influencers stay on Instagram. Those are the best places for them.

If you’re comfortable with Lemmy, then there are enough of us here to let this grown organically.

We don’t need one platform to rule all.

It’s almost like a ceo is only as good as the product and the people they surround themselves with.

Twitter could never be a profitable business, the numbers don’t work. No one with visionary talent wants to associate themselves with Musk’s right wing tweets.

Musk isn’t a genius, he’s a person who started with money and made much more money on a few things that went right and many more that didnt.

I was raised Roman Catholic.

A soul is a concept to make death less scary.

All life is an organic computer. When something dies, the computer is off, never to be rebooted again. That’s ok though.

Does it seem like we’re mixing two concepts, having servers for users and content?

It feels like they’re two different roles. It might be better to have user-orientated servers that prioritise federation of content and only have a couple of meta-style communities, and other servers which prioritise being the go-to place for discussion on a particular topic and less a place that manages a large number of user...

Spacebar,
@Spacebar@lemmy.world avatar

I’m sorry if I’m being pedantic, but so many of these discussions come down to “how can we make Lemmy be Reddit,” or “how can we make a federated network not be so federated.”

Spacebar,
@Spacebar@lemmy.world avatar

I mod a sub that is niche and there are 3 other subs by the same name. We all agreed to put a sticky post on 2 of the 3 directing people to the main.

It’s no different than reddit, !beekeeping, !beekeeping, !beekeeping is no different than /r/beekeeping /r/bees /r/beekeeping

Right now we are creating communities with the same name as reddit subs to aid in transitioning. That won’t last forever, and as long as people use good community descriptions people will find the good ones.

I changed some settings to make it look better to me. I'm happiest with liftoff right now.

Vote! Encourage those around you to vote. Help drive someone to the polls. If you know a young person who's never voted, get them to vote.

Don't care who they vote for, just get them to the ballot box.

The more people vote, the better things turn out for the majority.

If you don't feel it's worth keeping as many Rs out of Federal roles, then no amount of examples are going to change your mind.

You can't ignore the federal level because the Dems aren't liberal enough.

It's a war crime to use them against civilians.

The Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) is an international treaty. Russia, Ukraine and the United States didn't sign on to that treaty. I wish they did.

Reddit is too popular and has too much group think, too many of the same types of comments that will get a lot karma, and too many comments that will just be ignored.

NEW is a garbage dump or a pile of duplicates. So why comment on a new post? It will never go anywhere. HOT is already full of comments, so your comment will just be lost.

Jack Smith looks to hit Trump with up to 45 new charges and indict attorneys: report (www.rawstory.com)

Donald Trump could soon be facing additional indictments from the Department of Justice, The Independent reports. The DOJ has made preparations for a “superseding indictment,” which are additional charges that may include allegations of more serious crimes against a defendant, according to the report.

Nigeria: Mob pelts stone shouting ‘Allah Hu Akbar’, children participate in the brutal murder of a man accused of ‘blasphemy’ (www.opindia.com)

Young children are seen participating in the murder actively, with no adult trying to prevent the children from throwing stones or even trying to prevent them from watching the bloody murder. Usman Buda, the deceased victim, worked as a butcher in the local market....

Usman Buda was a popular butcher in the area and some locals were jealous because his business was good.

This is often how these horrible things happen. Religion is used as an excuse, instead its greed and jealousy.

As excited as I am about the Fediverse and its diversity, an all-in-one application is the real dream. I'm afraid efforts are splintering into too many redundant apps (15 at this point across both platforms) when they could be focused on the one app to rule them all with clean, working interfaces for as many federated applications as possible. With Fedilab already supporting Friendica, Mastodon, Pleroma, Pixelfed, Peertube, and even GNU Social (with plans to support CalcKey), adding Lemmy / Kbin would be a game changer for me and many others. Add Funkwhale and maybe WordPress and it's game over you never need to download any other apps.

A military training exercise would be much smaller in scope, coordinated to manage costs, and done at a time that was convenient. It also wouldn't include private vessels.

There were private vessels and ROVs involved. The debris field was found by the Horizon Arctic, a private vessel that services oil rig deep sea anchors. Who is paying that private ship? We are. They certainly wouldn't be part of a training exercise.
