IPO = Initial Public Offering, where shareholders offer to sell their shares to the public, shifting a company from a “private company” (it belongs to me, you, and that guy) to a “public company” (it belongs to anyone who pays enough for the shares)....
Are there good Microsoft word alternatives that support Linux (I don’t mind closed source)? Libreoffice is meh and only office is quite good, but are there any better ones? Also, is there a way to install word on Linux using wine? When I do that my laptop just overheats and loses internet connection.
Don’t be anywhere near the center. Don’t make any arguments about corporations providing value. Don’t try to report violent tankie content. Don’t point out that lemmy is just going to end up like forums because of power mods and admins defeding people they don’t like. And don’t call piracy stealing. People really don’t like when you call them thieves.
Know what you are doing and own it. You don’t like the means of distribution or price and you are stealing the right to distribution from them and very much taking money out of someone’s paycheck.

Nah, it is. It’s the same as folks who scream about how easy it is to be scammed on Amazon. It’s rare and if you are getting tricked into buying fakes every order the problem is you.
Shopping for deals really isn’t as hard as you all make it seem.
Full market saturation. They aren’t getting new customers, especially from that ad blocking I won’t pay for shit crowd. They’ll probably pull at least a few customers up a tier, and they’ll reduce compute costs booting the babies who won’t pay or watch ads.
It’s just common sense business. That’s how you make money.
Posted on a forum thread bitching about how folks are not going to use the service. The delusional logic here is way to high.
I think they are doing just fine booting the freeloaders. Even if they push you all to steal via piped that basically a free cache. Mission accomplished.
Nah, my house is probably only 450k in that equation. A nice 2300 sq ft ranch with partially finished basement. The rest is in investments and small business.
Yup. Thatsthepoint.jpg. See what you did there? You don’t find value, you don’t want to pay, and you stopped. Imagine that. Instead of bitching to the void incessantly you summoned up some will power and stopped using the service.

Phone hardware (cpu type, number of course, hardware ids, screen dimensions, dpi, memory usage, disk space, etc)
Common. Steam does this. It’s behind a permission these days and nothing is custom or special about this in any way.
Other apps you have installed (I’ve even seen some I’ve deleted show up in their analytics payload - maybe using as cached value?)
Patched out and was common at the time via Androids API. Again zero secret sauce, most apps pulled this.
Everything network-related (ip, local ip, router mac, your mac, wifi access point name)
Bullshit provide some verification in the least bit. It’s a random anonymous redditor mouthing off.
Whether or not you’re rooted/jailbroken
Again in the API patched out several years ago
Some variants of the app had GPS pinging enabled at the time, roughly once every 30 seconds - this is enabled by default if you ever location-tag a post IIRC
More unverified bullshit.
Pro tip: when your source is a random redditor who definitely worked for tiktok maybe consider for a second that someone is just making up bullshit and reaching to push their objective.
You’d think for being the most spyware app on the planet you could provide a source from a professional and not a redditor.
They set up a local proxy server on your device for “transcoding media”, but that can be abused very easily as it has zero authentication
I got a ban the other day for pointing out some memes about blowing up McDonald’s.
Funny part was I was immediately downvoteded to oblivion (one of the .ML domains) when I pointed out that they’d all freak the fuck out of it were abortion clinics.
I’ve never been a big user, but as I’ve grown older, pot has made me pass out more than once. I took a drag off of a joint at a festival a few years ago and passed out and couldn’t be revived for 5-10 minutes. They said my blood pressure dropped dramatically. I’m wondering if this happens to anybody else
For me personally, trams are right up there. Aside from the main issue of sharing the roads instead of having a dedicated line, they really make it easy to get from one part of a city to another, especially for wheelchair users. They’re usually as frequent as buses, but much faster. The stations are much more attractive...
