But I completely agree with you. 95% of consumers would most likely have difficulty just getting it installed. Basic usage, maybe a greater number could be fine using it but once something goes wrong, no one wants to use the terminal.

Their checkout still doesn’t have a cart, it takes forever to load, the UI is terribly clunky, the library sorting is terrible (how do you fuck this up), it’s resource heavy, and I’d be willing to overlook all that oof they had an in game overlay with web browser.
Aside from the terrible experience, they have profit seeking investors, one of which is Tencent. We all have seen were it goes when profits are priority over consumers.

I’m looking to start keeping hardware for prints that need additional parts to complete them. A Pi case that I printed needed screws that I don’t have on hand and needed to go searching for some....
I wasn’t sure about what type of screws to get. I haven’t printed off enough that need them to know quite yet, but not having any also has held me back from printing those things.
I was thinking about springs, but it seems like there’s just too much variety to really keep much on hand.
Any suggestions on what kind? I just started printing with supports after quite a while now that Prusa Slicer has natural supports. So far, I have just been using pliers.

On the plus side, I haven’t had a great relationship with him my whole life. I’ve cut him off from my life several times and the only reason I started talking to him again was because he seemed different (from previous issues between us) at his dad’s funeral. He has at least followed my stipulations I set if he wants to continue to talk to me.
Sorry to hear about your best friend. Hopefully it’s still one of those good relationships ‘as long as politics don’t come up’ kind of thing. But that’s a difficult one nowadays.

RPGs aren’t my style generally so I can’t really put my finger on anything specific with storytelling but I can at least say , for someone that (unfortunately) finds it difficult to get into stories, I found bg3 much more intriguing and easier to get sucked into then divinity 2.

My first printer was an Anycubic Vyper and I feel like it was pretty perfect for my beginner self. I was abke to put it together, do some very minor tweaking, and got it running decent quality with minimal to no issues. There’s also sales regularly on their site. I picked one up for 250 USD. And their customer service is truly spectacular. Once I started tweaking the printer for quality I found a few minor issues about a year and a half after purchase. They sent me replacements and I got them within a few days.
For your use case, it may be pretty good.i ended up changing/modding quite a bit eventually on it but I didn’t need to if I wanted to go with just printing test and consept parts.
Edit: Fixed by replacing the main board. I probably could have just added a BLTouch which was considered, but the USB port was unusable and I need that. I’m keeping the old board to mess around with it for later though. Possible good learning experience to be had....

Thanks for the input. I tried your suggestion and it didn’t load onto the board. When powering on it did the same as the other times I tried and just booted normally. I also have custom Marlin ready to compile and I think if that doesn’t work I will probably pick up a new mainboard. I opened it up and looked at the board itself to verify the hardware version before moving along with troubleshooting. I think I may need a new mainboard anyway because the USB port is all jacked up and I can’t get one in. I assume it’s probably broken and I’ll need it working for OctoPrint at some point.
This printer was purchased through a 3rd party that sells returned Amazon printers with no returns and a warning “There could be any number of issues with what you get” kind of thing. It was only $80 USD. I knew what I was gambling on and honestly I probably would have purchased the same or similar off Craigslist or something at around the same price and knowing I would probably need to fix it up somehow. I’m not mad, just annoyed that someone would do that lol. It’s also my second (could consider my 3rd I suppose) printer and digging deeper to learn more about it all is an experience I’m enjoying and have been looking forward to. I may get another from the same store at some point.
Looking at some of that stuff real quick, at face value, I’m really liking these options and features. This will be a good start with the Ender as I’ve got my Vyper setup for things that I need quality in and don’t care about speed.
I think I’ll move the Ender to Klipper and get out set for speed and useful prints over cosmetic needs. It’s been annoying printing a bracket or clip with those settings and a .2mm nozzle that takes 8 hours when I know I can get it printed in at least half the time.
Thanks a ton for the suggestions and your input. These kind of changes and modding were exactly what I wanted to do with my Vyper a while ago but didn’t because it was my only printer and already tuned.
I’ve tried changing it following any indy I could find with different versions. None of them will take for some reason. I picked up a 3rd party board to install klipper on, but I’ll keep the old one and try again another time.
