That part is actually what’s misleading. I don’t know anybody who gets 20 or 30 oz cups of dark roast drip coffee. 10 oz is a more reasonable size. A more useful comparison would be that one lemonade is like having two or three dark roast coffees.

There’s probably a point in Toronto that is a closer drive to Ottawa than to the other end of Toronto.

100% agree. Excellent, tasteful adaptation. It keeps the feel, the most important characters, stories, science, etc. It’s my favorite show of all time, and the books are just perfect.

I’m a Chrisjen Avasarala fan myself. Amos’s conversations with “Chrissy” are some of the best dialogue ever written.

She’s a 6’ tall kickboxer. I think she’s perfectly intimidating.

I appreciate you. I’m a teetotaling vegetarian. I usually manage to figure something out (and I try not to impose or be a killjoy), but it’s easier when colleagues are looking out for you.

Speeding tickets are a regressive tax. And they won’t get people to hate cars, they’ll get people to hate government.

I absolutely loved The Martian, but I had a hard time getting through Hail Mary. It was a great concept, and engaging science fiction, except most of the characters, including the main one, are completely insufferable. No conversation is believable or even interesting. Just juvenile stuff. Almost put it down 3/4 of the way through because I felt like I couldn’t take it any longer. I’m glad that I made it through, but it was really tough, and I’m not gonna read it ever again.

Not trying to discourage you from reading it, just hoping to lower your expectations a bit so that you’re pleasantly surprised when it’s not the trash fire I’m making it out to be. I hope you enjoy it more than I did!

I’m about to start Leviathan Falls (final novel in The Expanse). Every bit of it has been phenomenal, and I can’t imagine the last book will be any different.

Lots of people are mentioning the Caesar thing, but nobody has mentioned that tithe is also a tax, and there is plenty said about that. Malachi 3:8, for example.

I don’t know what a hundredweight is, but I’m just guessing based on American experience that it’s a unit of volume equal to 132 quarts.

Anti Rabid Bear Alliance. I’d like to petition to change NATO to ARBA.

You are speaking as someone who is home, transportation, and water secure. Someone with a marginally less stable life could have a difficult time staying alive. Heck, your AC going out on a weekend could drastically reduce your own quality of life in totally new ways during this heat.

That comparison might have merit, though. If they use 8-bit 1080p, it will have lower dynamic range than UHD at 10-bit depth.

Jellyfish eat animals and animal byproducts, so no, they are not vegan.

Jokes aside, often vegans follow dietary restrictions for reasons other than an ethical or moral belief against causing pain. Many vegans don’t even eat honey, so I imagine jellyfish is pretty safely in non-vegan territory.
