the makers of these things always say that, but I guarantee that long winded explanation is bullshit. Maybe there’s even hardware in there that does those things, but even so, they’re always listening, recording and submitting everything you say to their maker. Primarily for targeted ads and targeted content of other sorts…but also to snitch on you if the cops accuse you of something.

so-called crazy people were talking about how the ultra wealthy were going to use microchips in our brains to control us…now the ultra wealthy are in the first stage of that.
Always ask yourself, “what does this person have to gain from doing that?” if corporations can beam ads into our heads…that’s bad. Handing over your biometrics to amazon so you can buy groceries without cash or credit cards is bad. having all your identity information associated with a QR code that leads to a hackable database controlled by big tech it’s bad.
Cashless economies are bad, city-wide surveillance with facial recognition is bad…and the only reason no one is freaking out and putting these dystopian oligarchs in stockades is because no one knows and no one knows because fewer and fewer people are asking questions about things. “just asking questions!” right? it’s bad to ask questions, “do your own research!” It’s bad to do research now.
If no one ever thinks about anything and just continues going about their routines like good little worker drones then there’s no worries about not having any freedom, about not even having privacy in your own mind. “I’ve got nothing to hide, so I’m okay with my entire life being visible to the authorities”

All censorship is bad. One day it’s naughty racial words and then the next day religious zealots can lock people up for saying “god” in the wrong context.
False equivalence. Online you can choose not to see things you don’t like. Online, no one can force you to look at things that offend you…at least not yet.
Which is why all the censorship on social media is so ridiculous. And if someone is DM’ing you to harass you…That’s not free speech anymore that’s harassment and there’s already laws about that.

You can easily get away with exploiting people who have no other choice but to work for a dollar per year, but it’s much more difficult to do that to someone’s neighbor in their community.
You can delay all other updates with the group policy editor. You can disable preview builds and you and delay quality updates by 30 days and delay feature updates by 365 days. The bugs are always worked out by then.
Feature updates are necessary after a while. There’s SOME important stuff in there. And if you wait a whole year before installing the new one, all the bugs will be fixed by then

You don’t have to click on their profile. So the metaphor of you having to physically walk past them doesn’t apply. You can choose to not see them if they have a platform online.
What every social media platform is doing is censorship. Anything they don’t agree with, even if it turns out to be right a few years down the line gets removed with no due-process and no oversight, by people that are accountable to no one, that no one knows the names of.
Do you have a screenshot of the tweet he agreed with? People keep talking about it and saying that it was bigoted against jewish folks, but no one has actually said what was said or shown it.
I just follow cat and dog accounts on twitter and almost never post anything.
