Not bad. Saginaw is now more dangerous. I sometimes drive thru flint on my way north but there isn't much growth or development. What they are doing in Detroit I hope happens there one day, and Pontiac too. Both would be great to have something other than Amtrak connecting us.
Detroit is building out from its core. 20 years ago Woodward, the street that runs from the river to the suburbs, was mostly bordered up store fronts and the area could be dangerous during the day. Now it's alive and people are always out and about. Mid city was a bunch of burned out houses, now blocks of new and redeveloped homes. Detroit has some of the best architecture in the US and there is a big push to rehab it and grow. Long way to go still but it's the first time in my life the area is going in a positive direction.
I think tuvix was asking for it. Remember that time he swapped out Janeway's bra for a slightly smaller one. And it irritated her to the point she committed genocide on the breegans. He knew what was coming.

GOP'ers in denial don't want others to be able to freely express themselves. If they have to stay in the closet (and they do if they want to be Republicans) then everyone has to too.
The last time I was on mushrooms I stumbled into a temple I could only describe as doomy and watched a guy rip a heart out of another guy's chest! It was wild. Then when it was my turn the guy kept asking what I wanted to order. I said "I'll order anything, just let me keep my heart" and he responded "Do you want fries with that?" True story, it was later made into a Hollywood blockbuster called Demolition Man and the rest is history.
Packing a gun and taking it to China is not an honest mistake. Its beyond stupid. This person should have to deal with the local punishments which are severe. The excuse "I forgot" when it comes to dangerous weapons should be inadmissible.

It seems really pathetic to me when parents can't offer their teens privacy. I have a child and I want him to trust me. Invading privacy feels like it would have the opposite effect and create a very one-sided relationship. You can ask my mom how much she knows about me now and its considerably less than my boxing mates.

People trying to start conflict when there isn't any further information yet. This person gave her heart and soul for the city and I can promise you she would have wanted us to continue her progress, keep Detroit growing stronger together. The division that exists in the middle east is not here and I know the Jewish and Muslim communities don't want it here either. Detroit will be a city of peace one day because of our diversity. We've already seen the devastation that prejudice creates.
Ain't that the truth. I'm constantly fighting this fight in my own city where we only get bike gutters, not even lanes. Complain complain complain from the people who claim they care about the neighborhood.
Yeah I know for some people it's not their thing but there were few holidays in Japan that people seemed to relax and let down their guards at and this was one of them. That night you could walk up to anyone and party with them like old friends. Streets were full of happiness and laughter. Then the next day the suits were back on and life returned to normal.
Japan has the ability to slow down crowds. The streets are narrow and easy to block. Tokyo has a large police force. Plus recently the crowds have dispersed to other hip areas to have impromptu street parties which may be a good solution for crowd control in the future.
I know this is late, but I wanted to give you a response.
99% of the year every Tokyoite is clean and respectful of the city and the personal space of others. They don't get much approved days where they can let loose on the streets. Maybe some summer festivals and impromptu gatherings at Yoyogi park but that's it. What I've noticed after all these events, Halloween in Shibuya included, there are participants and neighborhood people that go out and help clean the mess. I helped clean after one, i think it was 2017. I asked someone else why they were doing it and their response was basically "I do it so everyone else can continue having fun." They weren't complaining about picking up other people's garbage and they didnt want the event to be cancelled in the future either.
The pressure at the bottom is great in their society and cancelling halloween in Shibuya was the wrong decision, they should have just expanded it to other areas to help control crowds and block off more streets for pedestrians that night only. I'm sorry you didnt enjoy it, I dont like parties usually but I always had a blast at them. I think my first one was 2009 and if I was in China for work I would always take a vacation to visit my friends at that time.
Cast iron pans work great, you can even use them on your induction stove and they heat way better than any expensive non-stick. Waxed canvas is also excellent at waterproofing. We do have solutions already for many things. Your plastic argument as well. The types of plastics the complaint is about is for specific products, not all of them. I work in manufacturing and the availability of safe materials are plentiful as science keeps looking for new ways. People just have to stop buying new things to throw perfectly good and usable ones in the garbage. It would go a long way.
Have you been asleep these past few decades? Corporations will never do that. Billionaires don't become rich by working hard and earning it. It's from stealing wages and destroying competition.
If Amazon doesn't need employees then they don't need tax breaks. In fact add a new tax for any business that switches to robot labor. They can pay the missing personal wages in taxes. Texas makes electric car drivers pay more for not using gas, this seems like the same thing.
Computers didnt reduce jobs, they created many more.
Amazon (along with others) absolutely destroyed jobs, killed competition and violated antitrust laws. All because they were wealthy and could buy their way out. Then they treated their employees with contempt (piss-bottles) and made them work in unsafe work environments (Illinois tornado). They deserve to be broken up like all monopoly-like businesses.
I didn't say keep people in shitty jobs. I said pretty much let's make Amazon pay back all the tax breaks theyve got and if they want to remove employees tax them for it. Why do you think all the cities in America threw themselves at Amazon and offered $100s of millions of tax breaks to open facilities near them. It was for the jobs they were bringing locally. They want to remove, fine. Other corporations that effectively pay $0 in taxes each year want to dump workers too, that's cool. They better pay for doing it tho. For running small businesses out of towns. For using genuine antitrust practices to prevent real competition that would have kept wages and jobs safe all these years. They owe the American people. All you guys defending them, defending the failure of capitalism can suck my dick. I'm done fighting this with you.
If the politicians gave it to bezos the people can take it back. You think its fair the sackler family keeps the billions they made for killing 10s of millions of people through the years. Just because what they did was legal at the time. They are going to see justice and I can only hope the billionaires in this country see the same justice for their crimes against the economy.
