Interesting, I’ve come to understand those prefixes to have the opposite meaning. I looked into it, and apparently the actual usage of bi vs semi is not super consistent, and has been historically ambiguous and especially difficult because of how confidently people tend to believe others share their understanding on the words.
You’ll notice a lot of the words you listed include both “twice per” and “once every other” in their dictionary definitions. Of course, dictionaries are descriptive and not prescriptive indicators of language, and I think it’s fine to argue one’s case to keep the terminology consistent at least within the bounds of a conversation.
I guess the takeaway is that it’s good to have a context under which the terms are consistent, like with banking, but also important to understand that there are other contexts with definitions that differ, and that those different contexts aren’t incorrect.
The term “sissy” in this context is mostly used as a fetish descriptor, generally carrying with it the connotation that men “get turned into” one, in like a forced feminization/hypno type thing. While there are some people who are both trans and identify with the label “sissy”, it’s kind of an offensive term when used to imply that those are the same thing. It kind of feeds into a lot of the false narratives and the “trans contagion” myth because of the baggage that word carries with it.
I’m uncomfortable with the label being placed upon a potential trans woman by an outside observer because of those reasons.
Youtube let the other shoe drop in their end-stage enshittification this week. Last month, they required you to turn on Youtube History to view the feed of youtube videos recommendations. That seems reasonable, so I did it. But I delete my history every 1 week instead of every 3 months. So they don’t get much from my choices....
Something I don’t think anyone is talking about is that, if this is now considered a ToS violation, Google will probably decide at some point to start banning accounts over it. Oh, you use adblock? Now your email, Drive documents, and photos are gone.
fwiw I’m a new player who started in Sanctum league with some friends who are veterans, and I’m enjoying the current league a lot (the mechanic is arguably mid but some of the items are fire). I did come to the “slot machine” realization at one point tho, and the rationalization I landed on was “well at least they just want my time, and not all of my money too”. Which, like, I’m really impressed by the restraint they’ve held with monetization of the game, the only real “gameplay advantage” mtx come from the stash tabs, and by the time a new player would need them, they’ve probably put enough time into the game to justify some 1 time purchases.
I was hella struggling last league because my group got me set up on Lightning arrow, but this go around on an RF inquis (I know, I know) I’ve completed all the atlas bonuses and unlocked all but one of the favored map slots. Currently trying to get melding set up but I’m probably not going to have the free time for that going forwards for irl reasons. Unfortunate, but probably for the best honestly. It was kind of becoming a free time black hole lol
Mine shows ads but doesn’t play audio. Plus the ads are just for like their Citi credit card, relatively unobtrusive.
Tangentially, I recently came to the unfortunate conclusion that it’s just not worth my time to get gas at Costco if there’s a line, especially if I’m out and about on a lunch break. The gas is good and it’s much cheaper, but if it’s like 6 cars back and a 15-20 minute wait, I actually save money by filling up elsewhere and just getting back to work sooner.
The cars themselves have connectivity that can be transmitted over cellular networks (same as/similar to whatever OnStar uses). Plus if you ever connect your phone via Bluetooth to listen to music or plug it directly into the car with a cable that can transfer data, standard protocol on a lot of cars is to just download everything off the phone that it can access.
Key word is access. Not everything on your phone is available to the vehicle, but if, for instance, you allow your car to access your contacts, it downloads all of them with all the metadata which the company can then sell. Or internally run through algorithms to profile you and everyone who uses your vehicle. If you use Android Auto or CarPlay, or just connect to the entertainment systems, they’ll skim whatever metadata they can and phone it home. Even worse if you use a car’s official app, it will use your own phone as the transmission point.
No, it doesn’t immediately transmit an entire backup of your phone over a personal Bluetooth connection, but I was very precise in how I worded my sentence.
I use ad blockers and open source privacy focused software whenever I can but occasionally I have to use computers that don’t belong to me or an older phone where my usual applications aren’t installed and seeing all the advertisements just feels dirty and dystopian....
I went to a pretty big local convention last weekend. Lots of people cosplaying and I wish I could have been a part of it but damn it’s a lot of work and I didn’t have the time to put together an outfit. Either way it was a lot of fun, I feel really lucky to pass but sometimes I wish I weren’t so tall.
At least in the clip, from what I gathered it doesn’t seem like he is talking about queer people in general, but the people who are part of popular online queer discourse. Like he qualifies who he’s talking about in the first opening seconds and it’s not “all queer people in general” and I think it’s uncharitable to make that claim. I also am not going to defend any of the language he uses but that is a separate matter from your second point.
Like idk he’s extremely vitriolic but from what I’ve found it’s always about people with ideas he disagrees with, not over a person’s identity in and of itself. Except bottoms, he really hates bottoms as an ongoing bit that gets really grating at times.

Just because the US has more space, that doesn’t mean it has to be filled with unsustainably sparse development.
And you’re correct—you’re not biking across your state, but the average resident of Amsterdam isn’t bicycling across the entire Netherlands, just to all of the amenities which are in reasonable walking/biking distance with the infrastructure to safely facilitate it.
