Yeah I saw. This shit has spiraled majorly, but a lot of their accusations are incredibly distorted versions of the truth, especially around the slurs. We remove slurs! I made an honest mistake, and immediately corrected it when called out, yet that has turned into accusations of ableism and transphobic behavior

Yeah the need for more moderators has been an ongoing thing for months, and the past few days our workload has like quadrupled and now that everyone’s pissed at us it’s even worse.
We have a whole team at this point there’s 5 people other than me and ada and it’s still not enough. Worse still anything they do I’m accountable for so I have to vet them THROUGHLY

I didn’t write fuck commies, or fuck [ originalally I said libtards here because I couldn’t think of another shorthand insult for generally liberal people. People have since asked me to remove the word, as even though I am using it as an example and not as a slur, it still has the suffix of an ableist slur. I’ve held community polls and discussions for every major decision or event in this community. I figured that this was a major enough event that the public should be brought in to the discussion.

Could you link me some examples of this? I haven’t been moderating these past couple days, as I’ve been very busy. These are heavy accusations, as I greatly value the right to discussion so if you can link me to some examples I would be more than happy to restore them and have a stern talking to with my moderators.

Okay couple things here, some of which are legitimate criticism, and some of which are just straight up ignoring the fact that they’ve been resolved. I’ll respond in order. One: the screenshot. Originally, I had a screenshot of the DM, with the intention of people responding to it as a sort of survey. Ada removed the post, and asked me not to post private messages, so I quickly scribbled out the DM in the 3 minutes of free time I had to check my phone and left for a good 8 hours or so. Now that I’m back, I have not had adequate time to create a write-up of what the DM said, as I’ve been too busy trying to put out the fires I inadvertently caused. I have also already unpinned the post from the community, as it was only pinned while I was deciding how to respond to the hexbear admin. Secondly, the slurs. Whether or not I should have used a word derived from a slur is besides the point, because after people corrected me I edited the post accordingly. I have already resolved this, and corrected my behavior so there’s really no reason to continue fighting about it. I’ve also never called anyone slurs! I used a semi-slur in an extreme hypothetical example of what I wasn’t saying that is used by the right as a catch-all insult for anyone slightly left of center. What you’re accusing me of I miles off the mark for what originally happened. also wtf is a chapo
They’re paying for Amazon web services instead of using more professional hosting alternatives, and things are nowhere near as optimized as lemmy.world. also I’m pretty sure that ruud has dedicated hardware for lemmy.world, whereas this is being done entirely off the cloud. in addition to all of that, they’re hosting a mastodon instance on the same website and the costs are for both
So mods wrote about having affiliated the lemmy instance with a discord server and I wanted to ask, how will it look like? Are mods using the discord? Are relations just friendly and nothing more?
It looks like me putting a link at the bottom of the rules and them putting a link on their server and then both of us pretty much forgetting about it. If there’s a major outage of Lemmy or whatever this allows there to be a place for communication to occur, but it’s really not my space I’m not a moderator there.
