Her money was pocketed by private insurance companies. Blame them, not a poor country that’s under attack. US has way more than enough money to feed and house everyone, even if they quadruple the spending on Ukraine.
Last time, I used: “Anybody need anything while I’m out?” and that went over well. May not make it through this surgery on Friday, so I turn to Lemmy for top-notch suggestions for my potential last words!
I could feel that I was going out as I counted. It felt as if I slowly lifted an inch above the operating table and rested on a fluffy white cloud. I could feel them inserting catheter and needles but it didn’t hurt even a bit, if anything it tickled. Last sight was the grumpy face of this fridge-sized bald anesthesiologist.
Woke up a second later in Intensive Care unit, surprisingly well rested.
By the way, there was no tube in my mouth. They just put a mask on and it smelled sweet.
Wanting all of that but without the authoritarian bit should be called something else. I’m from a country which was occupied by communists (collective ownership was a thing) and it sucked big time.
There is no perfect system, textbook wonderland communism has lots of flaws too. In my ideal world it should be a mix of everything. Communal gardens or hobby workshops are great, communal workplaces not so much. I mean, people should be allowed to get rich if they can do it without abusing others. You should be able to start and grow your company, and get paid for it accordingly.
Except that they take shit very seriously at airports. Try jokingly saying that you’ve got a bomb while they’re checking your luggage, they’ll take you away for a few hours.
I’ve got four different countries, with different languages and currencies, within a four hour drive from my house. I only drive if the road trip is the goal.
Hamas intentionally uses civilian buildings and schools as ammo warehouses. Israel aims for the ammunition and ignores the civilian casualties. Neither side wants to avoid civilian deaths in Gaza.
In some countries you must submit a letter of resignation a few weeks or months in advance, otherwise you don’t get resignation bonuses and your employer might even take you to court for lost productivity. Of course, this only applies to people who are simply quitting for personal reasons.
US spends more on healthcare per capita than any other country. The reason why you can’t afford medical bills is because of for-profit health insurance companies. They pocket billions every year.

In my country electric scooters are classified as bicycles, so they must use bicycle lane if one is available. To clarify, E-scooters like this one, not like electric Vespa or something. Their top speed must be limited to 25 km/h.
Everything you’ve mentioned is done either by taxi, or by delivery guys with a van. It’s not the US, elderly people can call an ambulance to go to a hospital, they don’t need to pay for Uber while having a heart attack.

You can have a gun in any county in Europe, you just have to get some training and pass a test first. Also, Hungary isn’t all that great right now, with their totalitarian president, pro-russian views and huge brain drain. Looks like Slovakia is moving in the same direction.
So russia has mandatory military training, each year a certain number of men are called, this has been happening for many years, it’s just standard boot camp. Shoigu assured everyone that this year’s conscripts won’t have to go to Ukraine, training will be done as usual (on russian territory only) and then they can go home.

Renewable power is now a huge business too, naturally there are corporations which will happily lobby and shill about it. Looks like you’re doing exactly that, claiming that wind and solar is without faults and basically a miracle.
The most basic proof of that: wind power isn’t safer. Way more people and animals are harmed by it than by nuclear.
Chernobyl was a freak incident and it happened fourty years ago. We don’t build reactors like that anymore. Don’t use it as an example of something that happens all the time.
Meanwhile, wind turbines do fail, sometimes they catch on fire, sometimes while a worker is doing maintenance up top.
Don’t get me wrong, renewable power is wonderful and solar is really catching up but it’s not a miracle and they’ll never entirely replace other energy sources. There’s always a base load that needs to be satisfied, and nuclear is the cleanest, safest way to do it. It’s even safer than lithium batteries.
Lol, going straight for ad hominem here, aren’t you. Yea, you’re just a shill and a naive kid who thinks that he’s objectively smarter than literally everyone. I’ve met plenty of people like you before, you’ll argue just for the sake of arguing, ignoring all facts.

I was born in a shit country and everyone here worked hard over the past few decades to turn it into a decent country, with help from developed ones. That’s how.
Ok, and what’s your point? Some people don’t get the same opportunities, therefore they should all move to countries which are doing well? What are they going to do once they arrive? Most of them are uneducated, don’t know the language and don’t have any valuable skills. How are they going to survive in these crowded, overpriced cities?
They can’t all live on welfare payments.
That’s why I support helping their home countries develop, funding education and healthcare, sharing agricultural and manufacturing knowledge. It’ll be better for everyone if they turn their poor countries into developed economies.
