I've just finished reading Feral. I'll admit I felt it was just a tad pretentious to start, but the concept of rewilding won me over.
In many ways it matches my own feelings and ideas about the natural world.
I would highly recommend Feral to anyone who has any interest in the nature and ecology of our seas and forests.
4,5/5 stars 😁
I am fascinated by the world of mushrooms. This is a fungus from the genus Hydnellum, known as bleeding tooth (Hydnellum peckii). I took the photo in a forest in Stuttgart - Germany in September 2022. I have never seen one of these fascinating mushrooms before. #fungiworld#nature#forests#naturephotography#mushrooms
My name's Megan, originally from Minnesota but living in the UK which is now home. Always something in my mind and will post about it here. Hope you have a wonderful day!
Giving things time is the key management activity we do on our #woodland
But while we can't beat time we can optimize some circumstances.
One example: leaving fallen* trees in place helps kickstart natural decaying processes. This gives room for species that aren't found in a pure production growth.

It's interesting to see how in just a couple of years species diversity has significantly grown with a handful of these basic changes in management.
My wife has been pretty active in filling our yard with native plants and pollinators and she was able to catch this amazing video of a monarch in the garden. Hope this brings a smile to someone this weekend! 😀

Common blue butterfly
It was not easy for me to take photographs of this beautiful butterfly, but what is impossible for me is to say its name in German.
