If you want to help, join an advocacy group, go to your city council meeting, join your #union, go read about #solarpunk, start a #garden in your front yard! Learn to #repair your clothes and appliances instead of buying new ones.
You don't have the time or mental energy to do that? Of course you don't! We all work too much! That's the #neoliberal world we live in. So quit your job! Find a better job!
So this came up in one of my pots. My app says it's a corn marigold. Do you agree? Although not originally a native plant, it's arrival in the UK is suspected to be via the ancient grain trade. I quite like it - actually lifted it from the pot & planted it in the garden - so will probably save the seeds, if it pollinates. There was a great bumble bee nosing around it, so hopefully, hopefully. #garden@gardening
Inspired by a true story, The Promise is a very emotional and heartwarming read reminding readers how friendship is a gift, and how ethnicities or religions aren’t important when it comes to it. The art is colorful, soft, and gorgeous.
#ThisWeek : #colour#foliage#seed and #sun (also rain!) for #SixOnSaturday a lot of leaves on the ground, but still colour to be found, especially in the understory and some plants /trees that turn later than others.
Top left Prunus- a plum variety growing well in the last few years-- after its pollinating mate died 🙄 Centre Ontario native Aralia racemosa ripened some berries, though the plants have mostly frozen down, now. #garden@plants#NativePlants#autumn#fall#Alberta#October cont---
This gorgeous scene might be mistaken as part of Livia’s garden fresco but this is a later example. This fresco comes from the House of the Golden Bracelet at Pompeii. The idea of garden decorations such as pillars, masks, and frescoes with frescoes is at play.
I have to show the end result
All stones moved. Gravel and one of the benches in place … That bench is for sitting in the shade under the bean tree on hot days when it flowers in spring and the air is full of buzzing bumblebees 🐝🐝🐝🐝
Yep, definitely that time of the year! A lot of this is going to be given away. It is far too much for a 2 person household. 😁. These are the tomatoes that are left after using 5 pounds to make a batch of sauce.
My #SixOnSaturday shows that we are heading towards Autumn here in zone 5. The large sedums are just starting to bloom and the Solomon's Seal and Solomon's Plume have berries. The "Plume" berries aren't totally ripe yet.
I only have names for 2 of the sedums. The lower right corner is Mr. Goodbud (still in its pot and waiting to be planted) and just above it is Back In Black.
@plants@nature This one's an #InsectFriday + #FlowersOnFriday#combo! #bee on Carlina acaulis in the #garden
This is a #composite#flower so those 'petals' aren't, nor are they ray flowers as in many composites (sunflowers, asters, daisies etc)- those white strappy parts are papery bracts, just there to draw #pollinator attention.The actual flowers are all those tiny things in the centre- --cont-
This started as 3 plug size plants this spring. It's clearly something we are going to have to keep watching so that it doesn't take over. It is just starting to come into bloom. The flowers are just starting and should be more impressive soon.
We don't really have a #garden worth mentioning, but we have a little nook where some random stuff grows. I went to get some tomatoes earlier today and saw a bunch of #snails hanging out on the Jerusalem artichokes. Happy to see that. 🙂 @gardening
In addition to the phenomenal sales areas, there are also a couple display gardens. One in full sun and one in shade. Both are intensely gardened and well worth the time to browse around. #garden#gardening#bloomscrolling @gardening
