"The 'net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it" was a comment about #Usenet, a #federated / #P2P system with gossiped (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gossip_protocol) message exchange which wasn't particularly picky about its transport layer (indeed you could load a spool on a floppy and mail it), not the internet.
When you get your drivers license redone... what do you put for eye color?
This has plagued me for years-- I've gone back and forth between blue and green (I have one of each, green has a brown spot in it), and at one point they put dichromatic.
Following the spirit of spreading across the Fediverse (and because my main instance is down so many times, because diverse reasons) I’m intrigued about the joining instance process, because I honestly don’t know what criteria to have in order to join another one if I ever want to do it....
Copy/pasted from a previous response I wrote regarding this topic. I hope it helps:
When you follow a given account on #Mastodon with your #kbin account, posts from that account will be #federated here. If they use #hashtags, then posts they write will be federated into #magazines here based on permitted tags chosen by magazine moderators which show up in the #microblogging section of a magazine. AFAIK, posts that don't get sorted into a particular magazine will be sent to @random. In order to search for magazines/communities, you can enter [email protected] into the search bar for example.
Just saw that #Etsy has had three articles about how they mistreat their sellers in as many days. As an independent #artist myself, I've been struggling to find purchase (and purchasers) on the platform, which is why I started building #magpiemarket - a #federated Etsy-alternative. These articles just go to show how much we need a new space that helps #artists rather than uses them. Please #boost this to help us spread the word.

If you think words like #server, #instance, #federated, or especially #fediverse are intuitive, welcoming, or commonly understood language outside of techie circles,
then I’d like to ask that you pause and consider broadening your empathy.
Most humans don’t know what these words mean. That reduces their likelihood to embrace a nice place like #mastodon, and condemns anyone who has expertise in other fields to ad-based social media.
Hey guys, I am sitting on the #PeerTube (#Federated#YouTube) domain peertube.science - I want to gauge how much of an interest in this for me to set up. Is there anyone interested in a non commercial video service like this for the sciences? Humanities are welcome too. :)
Hey #Fediverse I was thinking about having some kind of blog to document my #GameDev projects I'm working on and give myself some kind of motivation to finish them. What sites do you recommend to do this?
Also, I don't know if there's a #Federated blog site or some tool like that that can help me with this journey. Any #Feditips would be appreciated 😁
RANT: I hate the fact that my ISP can restrict access to certain sites
How can it possibly be, that an ISP, which I’m paying for gets to decid, which sites I’m allowed to have access to, and which not?...
What made you choose your instance?

How do I subscribe to/view content that hasn't been added to Kbin yet? (kbin.social)
I haven't figured out how to view new content through kbin which hasn't been "added" yet....
