This is the last of the knitting things I was working on for #FallFinishAlong and it's the last project I actually expected to finish in the fall. (I've still got a quilt, embroidery and spinning on the go that I was working on in September, but they'll finish when they finish.)

There is simply no real, whole animal flesh in any kibble, and the flesh in canned food is often cooked and processed beyond recognition. In reality it can be argued that we're already feeding our dogs a "meatless" diet.
Essentially, animal flesh-based pet food companies enhance the palatability of dry foods by spraying animal fat known as "digest" (the entrails of chickens and other animals) onto the food.
The liberty of citizens is always constrained by respect for the liberties of others. What matters for our pets is to have food that is both palatable and meets all their nutritional needs. We've entered a time when people are not forced to choose between healthy, ethical, or tasty food for their pets.

Sadly the words "torture and slaughter" are no exaggeration when describing the conditions in commercial farms. The animal that fills our pet's bowl did not live a life we'd feel comfortable knowing about.
Ask whether you'd allow your cat or dog to live and die in similar conditions. More animals suffer today at the hands of humans than at any other time in history.
A label claiming "human-grade pet food" has absolutely nothing to do with animal welfare. The high cost doesn't alleviate any pain and suffering, nor does it improve the horrific lives of the animals killed to fill the bag, can, or container.
The fact that humans eat them doesn't mean the animals are treated humanely. NOT AT ALL

The impact pet food has on the environment and climate change, how healthy or necessary it is for our animal companions, or how it impacts the welfare of the farmed animals who become that food are barely known or ignored―even by animal lovers!
