This was the first Kate Bush album I owned. I was obsessed with it as I just couldn’t wrap my head around what she was doing. Still my favorite of hers.
The Jazz Composer’s Orchestra - Music Composed and Conducted by Michael Manter with Cecil Taylor, Don Cherry, Roswell Rudd, Pharoah Sanders, Fato Barbieri, Carla Bley, Larry Coryell, Ron Carter, Reggie Workman, Charlie Haden, Andrew Cyrille, Beaver Harris, Steve Lacy, and more
The song “Trio” is so good. Considered one of Bruford’s most essential artistic contributions to the band as he wisely chose to let the improvisation continue without him.
I have been passively looking for these in the shops since returning to vinyl collecting and have never seen a copy worth considering. I finally went the discogs route where there are hundreds for sale. Not sure why they never show up in shops. Classic albums. Starless is easily my favorite #KingCrimson album.
The second album I owned (Stevie Wonder Talking Book was the 1st), this was the first record I paid my own money for - with a bag of pennies. I ended up owning all of ELP’s work eventually. This one and Trilogy hold up the best imho.
