Because of changing life circumstances (my partner going into assisted living, me moving to a new apartment) we're needing to re-home our 2 dogs.
This is really, really hard. Luckily one of them is going back to my GF's ex-husband (which is an excellent thing) but I need to find a new home for Bella.
So close to done with the toe of my second Hiking Boot Sock! These will be ready for finishing - weaving in ends, blocking - for the #fallfinishalong in September. Meanwhile, Jules is unimpressed.
On Monday my partner and I had to put down our dearest Luna. She was an 11.5yo lab and beagle mix that had been diagnosed with cancer, hemangiosarcoma, in May after her spleen burst and a splenectomy in late April. This is my first weekend without her, in an empty house (my partner is working). It's really tough. All those small sounds you may not otherwise notice are gone; no more tapping claws on the hardwood, no more collar jingle as they move, etc. She is sorely missed. But at least she's no longer in pain. Hug your animals. #dogsofmastodon#fuckcancer#hugyouranimals
Well, yup, it's #Caturday and Kitty Kaze, AKA Kazmanian Devil, is determined to share #DogsOfMastodon Pauncho's water bowl despite me setting up a cute station just for her. Pauncho says, It's all good. #CatsOfMastodon
Almost a month ago, the vet told me Happy, at 13.5yrs, was nearing liver failure. It was almost certainly cancer based on her bloodwork.
Here she is today, after many more vet visits, an overnight in the ER & 4 meds. Turns out it was a bacterial infection. She’s recovering & I highly recommend pet insurance.
I’m so grateful for more time with this very good girl. I also know that no matter how many years we’re fortunate to have w our dogs & cats, it’s never going to be enough. #DogsOfMastodon
