Haha, I wish! He’s an engineer, and he says that I “don’t do the boxes right”. So he likes to do it by himself! He only needs me to ask if we’re going to keep something or throw it away. So I keep painting! :)
You have lovely colour choices and tonal variation happening! One tip I could give is to do some of the water in layers, using a wet on wet application you can create edges that look a bit like the layering of waves on the beachfront. Also utilising my transparency (less pigment) on the shoreline and more toward the ‘deep’ water will give the illusion of the deepening waters :) start with your least pigmented later, let it dry then work your way out :)
Just one person's opinion here--I'd say post if you feel inclined to. People willing to post at all, let alone post original content are in short supply. That said, nice piece, and I hope to see more.
Thank you, appreciated! I just hope there were more people posting art on Lemmy! I feel uncomfortable seeing so many of my stuff on this sub when browsing…
I completely understand. However, in my experience, I have often seen people say they were hesitant to post in the first place because people aren't posting. People like you may help motivate others to change that. No pressure of course, you're free to do as you please. I'm just some internet stranger, after all.
Do iiiiiit. Half of what people like about art is the life story of the people who created it. I understand if it’s not financially viable. The time zone idea sounds really great!
Yeah, it’s going to be quite a change, mostly for my French husband. It should be familiar territory for me. We bought a new house close to my mom’s house, as we have a lot of things and we wouldn’t fit in her house. We’re moving after deciding I need to help my mom, after my dad’s death last year, where he died alone in the mountains (they were divorced). I had plans to go that year and move him to an apartment, after postponing that trip due to c-vid for a year. I was too late…
Cost of living is better than the US overall, but the prices on foods is going up constantly there… Thankfully we will have a veggie garden, and access to local pastured eggs, goats, sheep, and chickens by my aunts, and wild fish from the nearby sea town.
I love your work! The watercolors you post here on Lemmy are worthy of an art gallery or illustrations in a children’s book, really anywhere!! They need to be published in some form. Please tell me you are getting recognized for your work!
Oh, wow, thank you! I have plans for a book, but so far, not much recognition exists. I started painting you see when the enshitiffication of instagram started, and so I didn’t go far with normal social media. I had more luck at the federated Pixelfed!
The first one I saw which is still my favorite is the collage-type one that you posted a few weeks back where you cut and pasted each individual piece of the picture together. That is a super unique looking style that I feel like I haven’t really seen before. Really beautiful piece, I just love it!
Oh, thank you so much! I might do some more watercolor collages again in the future. I’m currently moving back to Europe (that’s why I have anxiety with our move), and all my gear and supplies are all packed. I’ve kept out with me only a palette of 24 watercolors, a small sketchbook, 2 brushes, a posca pen, and a few colored pencils.
