Your favourite (offbrand) controller
I’m currently looking for another controller for the deck. Reddit threads and some articles usually mention Dualsense, Dualshock4, 8bitdo Ultimate and XBox controllers....
Counter-Strike 2 is out, but it’s not Steam Deck Verified ( www.theverge.com )
This just seems odd to me. I know it’s a competitive game, and most folks will be playing with a mouse and keyboard, but it feels weird for Valve to put out a brand new game (built from scratch, at that) and not plan for this.

Blizzard Games are coming to Steam ( www.theverge.com )
Being able to see exact number of players playing could be an interesting metric Blizz might not be wanting to share when it comes to WoW, wondering if we’ll ever see it on Steam.
in honor of Halloween season what’s your favorite horror game for the sad?
Title. I’m looking to add some new games to the library to play I honor of my favorite holiday. What are some of your favorites? Bonus points for hidden gems!
Slim protective cases for the Steam Deck
Can anyone recommend a good case for carrying a Steam Deck in a backpack or similar which is less bulky than the factory case and yet protects the device? (I’ve heard the Dbrand Killswitch and JSAUX Modcase recommended, though that was a while ago.)
Does anyone play Destiny 2 on SD?
How’s the performance? Any issues?
New handheld game consoles will need replaceable batteries from 2027, EU says ( www.eurogamer.net )
[FIXED]How do I adjust the screen color while streaming from PC?
I’m playing Station to Station, Cyberpunk, and Miles Morales currently. I’ve noticed when I stream from my main rig to the Deck the colors are drastically different from both what the game looks like natively on the SD and my rig’s own monitor. I’m curious as to what gives, and how/where to fix it....
Steam is giving me options for a return and I'm hoping for advice
I just bought the 256GB Deck at the beginning of this month and it arrived on the 10th for $529. On the 13th they announced the OLED Deck and dropped the price of the 256GB Deck to $399....
Handheld gaming is the future - The Verge Podcast ( www.theverge.com )
This is primarily a podcast, but there is a short article with it. Also worth noting, this podcast came out before the Steam Deck OLED was announced, although it’s possible the participants knew of its existence considering they had an early review unit.
Cool Linux programs to use in desktop mode?
I used Ubuntu briefly years ago but never really dove into the world of Linux. Are there any useful or fun programs for Linux that work well in desktop mode on the deck? Thanks
Is SteamOS a future default for handhelds? ( e3f49eaa46b57.cdn.sohucs.com )
Given many new handhelds coming on the scene and general disinterest of Microsoft to support the market, do you think SteamOS will take place of default OS the same way Android did on phones some time ago?
OLED is nice and all, but the upgrade I really want is this. ( sopuli.xyz )
I completely understand why Valve decided that the touchpad haptics were good enough, the deck is heavy as it is already. I’d still love to have the option of adding some proper rumble on the deck for the games that deserve it.
Steam just lost my sale, or not.
Edit: to this rant because I think they deserve it. I’m guessing they did have a ton out bot orders that they cancelled because they are back in stock and my order went through....
My Steam Deck's arriving
my Steam Deck’s arriving soon and I’m kinda afraid about the SSD upgrade and the steps I have to do. Especially after hearing that some sticks/touchpads (I can’t remember what) don’t work immediately after booting into Steam OS with the new SSD.
[Game] ‘Starfield’ Steam Deck review in progress - "good in some parts but struggles in cities" ( toucharcade.com )
“After dozens of hours on just Steam Deck, Starfield feels good in some parts, but really struggles in the bigger cities. Turning everything to low and enabling FSR2 is basically the only way to play it right now on Valve’s handheld, and even that drops to 20fps often in the first major city (New Atlantis). The game itself...

The true number of playable games is of course much higher, but this is still an impressive milestone....
Is THIS My New Home Server? - Steam Deck Server Guide ( youtu.be )
Seems like a pretty weird idea. Thoughts?
I have been using the Steamdeck as a workstation for the past month while out of town.
I was out of country for the past month. I have access to two monitors, and I brought a keyboard, wireless mouse, and a small JBL speaker. It has been a pretty good experience. I have edited documents, images, and created PDF’s. I can connect to jobs that require windows with a web browser to Azure Virtual Desktop. I have...
What is general practice for installing games from outside Steam? ( kbin.social )
PC/Linux/Steam Noob here. I just got a game from GOG and I’m seeing tutorials mention Heroic, Lutris, and Wine via ProtonUp-QT as methods to get non-Steam games installed and running on Deck. Which method would you consider the easiest and most reliable for content from GOG, Ubisoft, Epic, etc…
Modding in games
Which modmanager should I use? I’ve seen that Vortex can be used but the majority of people I’ve seen don’t like it. I’d like to mod Skyrim and Darkest Dungeon
