I see i can find a foss version on f-droid, and that’s something not a lot of social networks can have, i don’t really like all the crypto bullshit and ads testing they’ve been up to lately, but still looks better to me compared to what Reddit have done lately or what other platforms have done in these years…...
Hi guys,...
I have an iphone for work that I’m also allowed to use for personal stuff. I don’t use it often, but it has a great camera and is a useful backup for 2FA if I would lose my primary (android) phone....
I am fucking scared of the mass surveilence nightmare direction that the internet and the world as a whole is going towards… C2PA, france hacking itself into citizen phones, the UK anti encryption law, EU’s chat control, etc. Im also sick of and hate the “you will own nothing and be happy” mentality that corpos try to...
I’ve been using Tutanota for a while now. Been interested in people’s opinions about Tutanota and Protonmail.
I currently use Brave and am curious about the pros and cons of both since I see many people recommend Firefox.
So it says it will require all “communication service providers” to spy on people and require them to divulge the information they collect to various government agencies. My question is, does this mean the phone manufacturers as well as the phone companies? Like is Samsung and IPhone considered “communication service...
Are there any good quality, open-source or community-driven alternatives to goodreads? Something which offers the same discoverability service for similar or related books, including the ability to wishlist and review?
I’ve been wanting to move on from gmail for a while now, thought about self hosting but I’m afraid I won’t have the time or ability to keep it running well for a long period of time. Which service would you guys recommend? I’m not an avid email user, I basically just sign up to websites and send support emails once in a...
Hi all, I’m pretty new to the fediverse and have tried learning about the way it works. I have tried finding some information in vain, so I have ended up mostly reasoning about it by drawing parallels with other non federated systems but I feel it’s not accurate....
Secure camera is really good. However I find google camera works better in low light with fast moving object, like in door photo of moving pet etc....
How could my privacy be compromized in the time between me connecting to a public/work wifi hotspot and the time my vpn is connected....
I have a VPN, but don’t use it that often. Whenever the VPN is not active, I’d like to use nextDNS. Is there a smart/automated way to do that?
I love extensions that help me save money, like Honey (for crowdsourced discount codes). But Honey sends all my data to PayPal, which means that I use it sparingly and only enable it when it’s time to checkout. That’s inconvenient....
What’s your prefer two-factor authentication app for iOS?...
I hate Facebook but realized I can’t uninstall the bloatware Messenger app from my phone since I actually need it for Facebook Marketplace (I usually use it for selling second-hand stuff and looking for other products/services). Also I have plenty of friends there and it might be good to reconnect with some without dealing...
I have installed both uBlock Origin and NoScript in Firefox. Does it make sense to use both at the same time? I was wondering whether or not uBlock Origin is able to do everything that NoScript does. If not, what does NoScript have that uBlock Origin does not?
Given that all iOS browsers have to use Webkit for rendering, are there any privacy benefits in using say Firefox or Brave on iOS over stock Safari?
Title says all.
What you think about the protocol and it’s future? Currently it’s mostly inhabited by BTC fans but the idea itself seems much better than what Mastodon/Lemmy is doing...
Hello fellows...
Considering my threat model is just preventing my ISP to know which websites I am visiting and to prevent my government (India) from tracking me, do I need to use a VPN?...
Is this a good idea for privacy?
I mean, exactly how invasive are default operating systems? (Like Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Android, iOS) Do they log your keystrokes, log passwords, capture screen, upload your photos, videos, or audio? (Assuming you aren’t a target of government) Is it even possible for the average person who doesn’t feel comfortable...
