This mission is the first one that really made fromsoft’s style click for me in the context of armored core.
No spoilers. But, much like their previous games, the enemy positions are set in stone every time you start a mission (/rest at a bonfire). That makes it possible to do some really cool things with routing. If your movements are consistent, so are the enemy movements.
I tried for the best rank on this mission probably 20 times before it really sunk in that I could plan and practice my route from start - finish. The end result was glorious.
It’s not for everyone, surely, but this game is an absolute masterpiece in my eyes
Such a gem! I’ve 100% it a few months ago, playing exclusively on Steam Deck. Recommended for anyone who likes games such as A Short Hike, Lil Gator Game, etc.
When I loaded it up to get that screenshot, I discovered they’d added a new island since I last played it - so I need to play through the new section now!
They're phenomenal at setting a vibe, good at level backgrounds/skyboxes (what this is), and great at realistic level clutter.
This is also running in Hitman World of Assassination, or Hitman 3, so even though it's a 2016 level and assets, the lighting is nicer. The shot was taken with Nvidia Ansel, normally you couldn't get a hudless screenshot.
I haven't even beat it yet, Ive been grinding world completion, which I know you're not really supposed to do in that game, there's no achievement for it, but I just want to. I'm probably halfway through the story looking at the cultist's Ive killed, so I guess I'll see how they do that ending soon enough here
For real. The soundtrack is absolutely incredible, too. Really, really impressed with just about every facet of Katana ZERO. this shot was from a few years ago when I first played it.
Still being worked on, ostensibly, along with some other game I'd assume is in the same universe called Katana Heroes. The dev is going to keep the DLC free, seems more like a labor of love and so they're just taking their time with it and will release it when it's ready.
What you’ll be getting into is a horror game wrapped around a spectacular sci-fi thriller that starts with a strong idea, and then explores it to the depth of its most uncomfortable ramifications. It’s the sort of game that’s not very long, but absolutely sticks with you for a long time afterward.
The horror elements can be disabled if that’s not your jam, and it’s a testimony to the strength of the writing and atmosphere of SOMA that even so, it’s still a chilling and unforgettable game.
I agree with what Balinares said. It's good horror, more importantly, it's genuinely good sci Fi. I enjoyed it on the little bitch setting where the monsters can't hurt you, lol
It took me a while to really figure some specifics out. If you wanna just do some FPS shooting then go to any low level systems with quest boards and look for one that specifies killing a leader of a group of mercs, so far it seems like it'll put the mission in the same or a nearby system, so you shouldnt be underleveled.
New Atlantis' board works well, the system is level 1.
I’m just sort of hopping around doing the main questline for now. I’ve heard that’s the fastest way to get the game to open up. Definitely see the attraction though.
As soon as the game split the main quest into three different quest paths I just went off and did my own thing and I feel as if it's pretty open, I built my own ship, have explored a bunch of systems, it's given me the prompt to make a base.
Whatever you wanna do is cool, that's what makes it a Bethesda game, but definitely don't burn yourself out on narrative heavy quests if you feel like that's coming, if you wanna shoot some stuff totally go for it
This game just looks like an absolute blast to play, how do you like it? The art style reminds me of jauntier fantasy art styles from back in the OG Xbox days.
Honestly I adored it. I rarely hang around with a game after I’ve hit credits, but I’m probably going to spend some time in the games ‘arena’ mode just to see what else the games got to offer.
