Make sure you’re not using any special characters in the name (identifier). Just lower caps letters. Not sure about numbers.

The error message informing you of this is a bit borked.

Another thing to look for is whether your community name is already taken, on your instance. (You can use the same name on different instances, but only once per instance. Same with usernames.) Sometimes Lemmy just gives you the spinning wheel of death when something is wrong, but doesn’t tell you what the problem is.

I just find and instance that allows you to create communities. Make an account on that instance then create the communities and make my normal account a mod. Because my instance doesn’t allow communities to be created and I like it to much to switch.
