axzxc1236,

I think “Feeling good” is in this category.

edgemaster72,

The Summoning by Sleep Token

wax,

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath

Squeezer,

Portishead - Glory Box & Wandering Star Both bangers, both slow.

6mementomori,

i think “L’amore dice ciao(Slow Take)” qualifies as a banger

lumiloop,

I consider Mad World to be a banger and that’s a pretty slow song.

Final Breath by Pelican and Společně, Pt. II: Laying Down in the Rain by Černá immediately came to my mind. They’re slow bangers.

That being said, not every slow and good song is really a banger. For example, Take Me Somewhere Nice by Mogwai is slow and has a similar driving beat, but it’s nowhere near as saturated or acoustically imposing. It’s more of a “hold your head in your hands and cry”-type of song.

BurningnnTree,

In my opinion no. A banger is the type of track you would play at a party. It’s a danceable track that gets you hyped.

Widowmaker_Best_Girl,

I’d agree. When I think of banger I think of “head banger”

You wouldn’t head bang to a slow song.

There’s a whole subgenre of D&B called Halftime that’s full of slow (by D&B standards) bangers, as well as plenty Trap, Dubstep, etc that fits the bill.

Cake - Ivy Lab

Era - RL Grime

Ruffhouse - J:Kenzo

The Nomad - Noisia, Mono/Poly

Move It Along - Audio

Drone Warfare - Eprom

Work For Nothing - Decimal Bass

Ego Death - TMSV

Ouija - Ankou

You may not agree with all of them, but tried to find plenty of examples to make a point. Hard not to bang to most of these.

counselwolf,

Strangely this made me think of In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins.

I’m not sure that’s what you’re after but that’s the first song that popped in my head.

pandarisu,

Great, now I want chocolate

counselwolf,

chocolate?

pandarisu,

In the UK in the 00’s there was a well known advert for chocolate that featured a gorilla and… It’s probably better of you watch it yourself

counselwolf,

commercials are weird, but I guess effective if y’all still remember it after 20 years.

The George Michael enjoyers might kill me but give this one a go:

Seether - Careless Whisper

Nemo,

Check out “Do Not Go Quietly” by Morphine.

Yes as long as it has a solid beat and sonic intensity. Look at it this way, not every fast song is a banger. Being a banger doesn’t necessarily have to do with beats per minute.

Mr_Blott,

See - Supermassive Black Hole

crazystuff,

The drums have some 16ths here and there though

Gen Z has redefined “banger”. I’m not old man’n here. It’s okay. Every generation does it.

We used to use “that’s banging“ quite a bit in the 90s and my understanding was the musically it was mostly used as “head banging” for heavy music. Again, don’t care how people want to define it today. I’ve still mostly seen it referenced to music that hits you a bit harder than most, but whatever.
