Oh wow, I’m not sure why but somehow it does look great!

It’s interesting that they tried to nerf sandbagging. I think it will just change how people do it (they’ll drive badly on purpose instead of stopping), but we’ll see.

"Fixed an issue where, when racing against a Ghost in Time Trials on Yoshi’s Island, the red road would not appear even though the Ghost touched the Winged Cloud."

Why should the road appear when the ghost activates it? The ghost isn't supposed to interact with the environment in a way that affects the player.

Link,

Perhaps you can’t interact with the road unless you touch it but you can see it appear for the ghost.

Lowered the appearance rate of Mirror and 200cc in “Worldwide” and “Regional.”

Considering how often this exact line was in the patchnotes, it must be -20% chance by now. 😅

I am honestly fed up of them decreasing 200cc lol

Some races are great in 200cc, and others are just too weird, I think the 200cc choice factor should be races based.

Sometime, you just want to pop into a game someone created and shared on your favorite discord gaming community.

The Join the room by ID was one of the best simple feature of Smash, very happy to see MK having it. You can quickly go to a room you’ve found on a discord without having to mess with the friend feature.

I know how this turns out before it happens. Nintendo is telling the truth and everyone that think it’s Nintendos pantent is dumb. This happened with the original switch to

Would’ve preferred a Studio Ghibli animated film.

Patches,

Isn’t he retired… again… for like the 5th time?

Link talking is as much of a deal breaker as Mario talking. But the people who love minions will sell their house to watch this film and buy all the merch so they’re still going to get millions.

If they keep the story small enough, it could work. If they try to cram the last 3 decades or lore and plot and characters into 1 movie, it’ll just fall apart

From the director of Maze Runner, the screenwriter of The Rise of Skywalker and the producer of Mobius. I don’t see what could possibly go wrong with this movie.

Maybe the title is misleading. I don’t know any Japanese, but using online translation, this is what you get from the original article:

Internet news sites have been reporting observations of the successor, but President Furukawa pointed out, “Rumors are circulating mainly on the Internet as if they were public information, but they are inaccurate.'”

This doesn’t negate anything, it just says the rumours are inaccurate, which is probably true in most cases. So this is just saying “rumours are just rumours”, it doesn’t mean there’s absolutely no truth in any of them. He then says (again, translated online):

He cited reports that Nintendo provided explanations about next-generation consoles to specific software makers in 2022 and that Nintendo demonstrated a new model at an overseas event in the summer of 2023, denying them as “untrue.”.

In this case I’d say even if these were true, calling them “untrue” doesn’t negate all of it absolutely, just that this is not exactly how it happened or whatever. Also take into account these are online translations so it might be that the sentences are even more vague in Japanese.

The Switch is losing steam, which is expected at its age, so it’ll be a matter of time. It’s obvious Nintendo has been working on their next thing for quite some time, as they always do, but we won’t know exactly what it is until anything official is said.

I don’t believe him. Why would Nintendo not be talking to important industry partners about upcoming console plans? I assume that every console vendor is talking to major developers to get feedback on prototypes and keep them in the loop about long term projections. Even if a new console is not coming soon, I am sure that development partners are getting updates on what the next console would be (and there is always a next console).

If a new console is coming soon, developers would need to know now if they have to budget for a Switch 2 porting team at some point in 2024 for a console launching in 2025. Launch titles need to start development well in advance.

As for the patent statement, his comment was obvious. Of course a patent does not mean that the technology is going to be used in an upcoming console.

XTornado,

Can they lie about this? Like I never know exactly up to which point they can hide certain things based on the fact they are a publicly traded company and misleading or liying to possible investors is usually a No No…

Outside of that, it would make sense… Like I see them announcing it around next spring with demos around the usual E3 dates and release before the holidays. So before that they would want to sell the OLED new models during this holidays, knowing a new one is coming doesn’t help with that.

TAG,

Companies cannot lie in official investor relations statements. I don’t think they face the same level of scrutiny for media comments about unannounced future plans.

Even then, there are many ways that a leak can be factual but technically untrue. Maybe show off the Switch 2 prototype at the conference, we swung by their headquarters after the conference concluded or showed off the prototype in a hotel room across the street from the conference.

aniki,

They can just say “It’s not called the switch 2,” and that’s that. “We call it the interruptor dos internally.”

aniki, in Nintendo denies briefing developers on Switch 2, and dismisses multi-screen patent | VGC

I don’t believe them. We have the chip designs already.

Zelda has a such potential to fail on a full feature that I don’t keep my expectation that high.

Silent Hill is still the only movie I consider good, because the original medium had a huge amount of content that match full feature requirement.

UnderpantsWeevil,
@UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world avatar

I’m glad for the latest Mario movie entirely because of Jack Black as Bowser.

The Resident Evil films were pretty good, too. The Doom movie was at least as much fun as your standard B-movie shoot’em’up. Uncharted and the first Tomb Raider could have stood in for any Mummy and was head and shoulders above the last two Indiana films. The Street Fighter and Mortal Combat movies were middle-of-the-road genre films.

I don’t think Zelda has to fail on its face. But I think there’s a lot of places where the screenwriters can go wrong. Translating the dungeons in a Zelda game to the big screen will be difficult in a way a Tomb Raider or Far Cry aren’t. And working side-characters into a game that’s very explicitly a solo adventure will be hard.

I think they’d have had an easier time with Dragon Quest. I’m very confident they could make a good Metroid movie, since that’s just reskinning Aliens 2. But there are definitely examples of game-to-movie films working, so long as they fit with a traditional Hollywood script. Zelda just doesn’t do that well.

I’m Surprised it took them so long.
