Possibly a dumb question, but is there, or could one of the extra smart people here build, a federated marketplace to allow for direct buying and selling without the middle-man enshittification of ebay, reverb, and the like?

Today I learnt that at beehaw.org you don’t really have to break any instance/community rules to have your comments removed by the admin. In their wiki page they wrote over the top, corporate-sounding articles about how “Beehaw aspires to be a diverse place” where “everyone plays an important role in that mission”, how...
This is a comprehensive guide that I wrote for people new to Mastodon, and people interested in trying it out. It’s more of a “field manual” than anything else, but it attempts to highlight some of the most important things new users should know about, while introducing them to the bigger concept of the Fediverse.
Does anyone know what this thing is? Some kind of decentralized, open source, anti-establishment, etc platform aiming to be an alternative to twitter, but we plebs aren’t allowed to see or participate in the development process or even see any source repositories yet....
