FatherOgre, in [Game Idea for a Travel Session] A Magical Train, with a Wagon themed on Every Universe It Went In

Fun idea! Thanks for sharing! I can imagine using it near the end of a campaign, kinda of a montage of all the major places/plot points they went to during the campaign.

Kyoyeou,
@Kyoyeou@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks! Steal it my pleasure! You could even use a character that they liked a lot but you didn’t remember much about and make it into the Train Driver/Pilot(?)

Aielman15, in [Comicbook] Dungeons & Dragons to Publish First High Level Adventure in Five Years
@Aielman15@lemmy.world avatar

Honestly, at tier 4 the resident party wizard has enough reality-shaping abilities that I find it quite difficult to follow a pre-written adventure without them nuking the entire content and forcing me to improvise.

And considering how badly written most of 5e’s campaigns are, I don’t think this will solve the issue at all.

Aubreysux,

I’d honestly like to see WOTC acknowledge that levels 10+ or maybe 15+ are not actually playable and refocus their design efforts on lower levels.

Aielman15,
@Aielman15@lemmy.world avatar

I’d rather them rebalance their game.

That’s what I hoped for OneDnD, but after the last playtest, I think it’s safe to assume it won’t change anything because it would take too much time and effort.

RobertOwnageJunior,

I’m just looking forward to what Daggerheart has to offer at this point.

I see, thank you for the link.

It seems to me it’s a pvp focused game, which is not really my thing. Having fun as a party is the main reason I play DnD to begin with. Too much stress already, I like sitting and playing a chill adventure with my friends instead of competing against them.

RobertOwnageJunior,

It’s not. It’s a RPG system, just like Pathfinder or DnD.

Aielman15,
@Aielman15@lemmy.world avatar

Sorry, i read the link while half asleep. The article itself is only a few lines long, and then it diverts to “Other Darrington Press games” and I didn’t notice it while reading.

I’ll check it out when it releases, although the problem with other systems is always the same - my group already knows dnd and doesn’t want to learn a new game. I bought some pathfinder books a few months ago and I’ve never had the chance to use them.

Dwarpheus, in [Comicbook] Dungeons & Dragons to Publish First High Level Adventure in Five Years

A level 1-10 adventure with a ‘bump to lvl 17’? What does that mean? Instantly levelling from 10 to 17, skipping an entire tier? That just sounds silly.

Fantastic post! I am hoping to bring my second dnd group through this original starter set soon, I had to buy the booklet off eBay for $35 because it’s not being sold anymore, having been replaced by Dragons of Stormwreck Isle

GataZapata,

Neat imma sell mine

theAndrewJeff,

If you don’t mind it being a digital version, you can get the Lost Mines book for free on D&D Beyond.

Brunbrun6766,
@Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah I definitely needed the physical version lol

Dear friend, this is beyond amazing. I have wanted to get back to being a DM for a while now but life is busy and all those excuses. I am positively giddy for the angles your help opens op. Thank you so much for this post!

Advent,
@Advent@ttrpg.network avatar

You’re so very welcome! That’s exactly why I wanted to create Advent’s Amazing Advice, being a DM can be a ton of work and just feel overwhelming, but I hope with this you can just sit back relax and enjoy some Amazing games!!! If you get the chance to use my notes please let me know how it goes!

You’re awesome, that’s a crazy amount of work

Advent,
@Advent@ttrpg.network avatar

Thank you! Ya, not gonna lie it is haha I wouldn’t be able to do it without my Patrons. Even crazier is that I’m starting work on Fully Prepping the entirety of Curse of Strahd next! Wish me luck!

I play 3.x (3.0/.5/PF1e. Folks in my group have different preferences and opinions between the 3, but what I run is mostly 3.5)

We like having a range of options to make characters feel unique.
We like having the game promote tactical movement and positional advantage.

To me, these things help form the groundwork for my own encounter design, suspension of disbelief, and worldbuilding.

Thanks for sharing, I didn’t know about Tome of Beasts 1 and the review kinda sold me on it.

Ooo, some nice monster options here! Things like the Kobold Chieftan remind me of things I’ve been hearing about in MCDM’s upcoming Flee Mortals! I checked out the preview at mcdm.gg/FleeMortalsPreview and it looks like a lot of fun.

Happy Birthday, Gary!

For those who like old school campaigns, I'm happy to report that there's an active community supporting his original campaign, Greyhawk. Stranger Things fans, this is where Vecna got his start.

NYPariah,

Aww, Happy birth/death day Gary. I enjoy what you created weekly, it is one of the best bonding moments with my friends, thank you so much.

Gary Gygax created a game that changed that way I thought about "playing a game". He gave me worlds of endless adventure.

And my nerdy friends and I played countless hours. Thanks Gary.

snor10,

Also remember Dave Arneson!

What Dave concieved, Gary compiled into a readable format.

They are both credited with the creation of Original Dungeons & Dragons!
