Can I get some love for my boy Raphael. Dude’s a literal Disney Villain. His fight in the house of Hope has been the highlight of 2.5 runs.
My first run I killed him in one round and had to reload to hear the conclusion of his song. Tell me that isn’t nailing a Performance check. He bought 1 minute of life with his voice.
I’ve had more genuine laughs from this game (first playthrough, early act 3) than from any other. Just having Karlach in my party makes me smile every time I switch to her.
Hot Karl has such a fun personality, and her VA just makes her sound so happy to be free, but worried (a little) about what’s next. She’s always in my party.
For me one of the most impressive examples of how little a voice has to match someone is the singer from the German band Annenmaykantereit who looks like a thin and weak young guy but has that kind of roughness in his voice of a 60 year old guy that smoked all their life
2nd act, IIRC? It would be available after the Emerald Grove situation is sorted. It’s just a background interaction that happens in your camp between these two.
The author really loved the sound of their own voice. I’m a dozen paragraphs in and there’s not an actual argument to back up the assertion that “it’s not fun” besides combat being “tedious”. I mean, look, I gave up 5e in favor of other systems after the OGL disaster and haven’t looked back, but this is a garbage tier article and I’m surprised it made it through Polygons editors, given how many of their writers and members have been espousing their joy for the game. Criticism is great, but “it’s not any good” just seems lazy and contrarian for contrarian sake.
There’s no consequences if he doesn’t get caught. Separate him from the group, sneak around, steal, and then return to the group. The only drawback is that if he gets caught and ends up in a fight, it’s going to take you awhile to help him. He can just dash away though if you give him any movement boosts. But be forewarned. There are serious consequences to getting caught in some parts of the game, very serious consequences.
