So, I was trying to use the official “web app” for Lemmy, and, once again, it’s just a link to Github. I’m no programmer and I just want to use the app, but have no clue what all those files are for. The tutorials on YouTube are like 1 hours long and are intended for programmers. It kind of happens more and more (links...
There are so many great song in my mother tongue that virtually nobody aside from the relatively few speakers could realistically even come into contact with. I’m certain all of you non-English speakers here can relate! I linked one of my favourite songs, what are yours?
I’ve not had a good day today. The kids have been shits, my wife has winged at me for not doing something I have already done, I’m hot, tired and stressed from work and fed up of not having a good nights sleep due to my 3 year old waking us up in the middle of the night constantly....
I'm trying to set up a periodic crawl for terms of interest to see if communities pop up that discuss them. Some are easy, like "Mordhau" because no other words contain it. On the other hand, "sword" and "HEMA" are problematic because things like "password" and "mathematical" contain them....
I’m looking for sunscreen recommendations - specifically for outdoor activities (hiking, etc), but if you’ve got everyday sunscreen recs, I’ll take those too. I generally prefer mineral sunscreens and I’m in the US, but feel free to share whatever sunscreens you like and hopefully others will benefit also....
i've seen the sentiment that most of the growth being on lemmy with .world taking on the large share of users isn't necessarily positive. other than the fact that the point of federation is decentralizing, what kind of issues arise from congregating heavily in a single instance?...
So I’m about to get a new laptop (likely 13th gen intel) since my current one is breaking down. Currently I run Arch Linux on my device and is looking into FreeBSD or OpenBSD as the OS. Mainly because once I tried to look into the Linux kernel and can’t believe the amount of spaghetti in it. I’ve read a little bit of Free...
I was wondering if people like these, because I see a lot of them on my feed in Hot and while they can be interesting, they all tend to have 0 comments on them, whereas lemmy posts will always have more....
My initial thought was for them to start their own posts in a news community and then provide their own thread of comments within that post. This way they wouldn’t have to do anything different from mastodon but both platforms would get to see their threads....
For context, I live in Hong Kong where most people drink tap water after boiling first. Some may install water filter but may still boil the water. Very few drink bottle water unless they’re outside and too lazy to bring their own bottles....
Mostly the title. I have a few items with built in rechargeable batteries that I don’t need to use very frequently. How do I keep the batteries in those items from going bad? Is there a preferred way to store them for a few weeks in between uses? Thanks in advance.
