euphoriainafruit, in Don't you think kbin has really gone downhill since the good old days?

It was just so much better a few days ago when I hadn't read the backlog of posts yet.

aerir, in Can we have one day without talking about poop?

3 days no poop baby!!! I mean you don't take poop daily?

Suedeltica, in The worst physical pain you've ever experienced ?
@Suedeltica@kbin.social avatar

I’ve lived a life mercifully free of pain, but one notable exception was after my weight loss surgery, when referred gas pain near my shoulder made it feel like someone was taking pruning shears to my clavicle. Once they figured out what was going on, some simethicone chased it away pretty quickly. I never would’ve guessed mere gas could hurt like that.

Elireum, in The worst physical pain you've ever experienced ?
@Elireum@kbin.social avatar

I relate to that, needles in the palate/gums is no fun...
My most painful experience though was when my kneecap dislocated and stuck to the side of my leg. Happened twice in my life. The first time when I was ice skating and the second just climbing stairs. Had to take an ambulance trip to the hospital :/

UprisingVoltage, in Is Grammarly premium worth it?

I strongly recommend deepl.com It’s by far the best among the ones I tried. It can translate using the appropriate wording for the context and it also has a section (deepl write, accessible from the topbar) where you can past your english texts and get better wording.

Also the free plan covers most use cases. If you need the pro it’s worth it imo

It depends if you really want to send all your text to a third party. Feels like a privacy nightmare waiting to happen to me.

zebus,
@zebus@kbin.social avatar

I agree, I wouldn’t use the always on feature, would just be for a specific project.

Peter: I'm looking for some toilet training books.
Salesman: We have the popular 'everybody poops", or the less popular 'nobody poops but you'.
Peter: Well, you see, we're catholic...
Salesman: Ah, then you'll want 'you're a naughty, naughty boy, and that's concentrated evil coming out the back of you'.

Merlu, in What was the dumbest belief you had when you were a child ?

When i was a child, i thought that high voltage lines were for little people travelling in cable cars.

icy_mal, in How do I remove sticker residue from glass containers?

Rub some vegetable oil on it or let it sit in a shallow plate of the oil for a few minutes. Then just clean it all off with dish soap.

Easy_Fox, in How do I remove sticker residue from glass containers?
@Easy_Fox@kbin.social avatar

I normally just put it in the dishwasher alongside everything else and the heat and the steam do the job.

CIWS-30,

Depending on the dishwasher, that may not be a good idea as the label can clog the dishwasher filter though.

EatALime, in Can we have one day without talking about poop?

One of my favorite features about Calckey is the ability to mute words. I think Mastodon allows it, too, and I used to make use of the word filter on Reddit as well. Maybe one day kbin will include it or perhaps it's hidden somewhere I missed and some helpful person will kindly point the way.

It's great for situations like this. I use it to filter out dog posts because I have a traumatic past with them and I know I'll never convince people to quit putting dogs literally everywhere, but I don't have to see nearly as many of those posts with a good filter setup.

Aceton usually does the trick.

There’s been kind of a “last week of school before summer vacation” vibe, which I suspect is related in part to the overall weirdness of this moment as reddit partially collapses and the Fediverse figures out how to absorb the influx of new users and, I dunno, I figure everyone is just feeling kind of impish and punchy.

Anyway I’m a humorless old person and unfond of scatological humor in general, so I emphatically share your sentiment. I suspect it’ll die down shortly, though. In the meantime I hope the literal shitposters are at least enjoying themselves. Everybody’s gotta blow off steam from time to time.

+1 for goo gone/mineral oil, but you can also try a plastic scraper for the majority, then wipe away with either: acetone (nail polish remover), rubbing alcohol/vodka, or even tape itself (masking/packing/duct tape). Good luck 👍🏼

This. I usually do Alcohol let it soak for a while and then wash it with dish soap and a good scrub.
