Something I do really like about this site is the ability to see the activity of posts including the reduces (down votes). So the guy that reduced the post above appears to be far right, judging by their activity. Fun!
I've already seen a few users who seem to have a habit of downvoting large chunks of a user's comment history if they disagree with them which is 1. sad and 2. makes me wonder if that was a common thing back on reddit since there wouldn't be a way to tell. I think it's overall a good thing that it's visible, it should encourage people to talk more and downvote less.
I can definitely imagine that it happened/s on Reddit, yes. The thing that feels the saddest about doing that is that it really means nothing in no meaningful sense. Its such a impotent form of rage where they aren't debating or even telling you you're wrong, they are marginally impacting others' ability to see the post.
Someone I knew in high school that was a pain in my ass for a couple years. I got to graduate with all of my concurrent classes, while he ended up staying another year. But he was a nosy piece of shit, notably when I was dating someone he had. We're talking, no personal space respecting kind, just up in your face and wanting you to do something to him so he'd have a reason to cry about it to someone. What made it worse was he was special ed, so it's like even if we did something non-violent, he'd probably just play that card and get off scot-free.
Sometime after a few years after high school was over, he just died from something. I don't know and I didn't care. Just a matter of 'whatever, I'm still here and he isn't' sort of deal.
Finding the area under a function in calculus. Super cool to me, for some reason. Imagine trying to make a small grid and counting out the area under a curve - you'd still be pretty inaccurate and it'd take forever.
I check mastodon occasionally but there aren’t enough people posting about the topics I care about to keep me there regularly. And yes, people have already told me to “create the content you want to see” ”start the community yourself and it will thrive” but those are unrealistic goals when the people simply aren’t there.
I tried it but I don't quite like it. I understand that the place is still developing and improving so it may change. But since you bring up the subject I'm going to leave some feedback here.
I would use it if I could filter it to only see threads from my subscriptions (like in feed). Because I don't want to read a bunch of random stuff that doesn't interest me.
It would also help if you could collapse the answers to move on to another topic
I think I found the answers, posting them here so one less person ends up needing to search that other site. (I need to make a Tools magazine to ask questions in)
I blocked lemmy.world. Fortunately, all shit post communities disappeared, which is a big win, and browsing m/all is delightful. However, I'm still seeing some communities from that server. Which I don't bother, because I can see posts from other servers too, but it's kind of odd.
