Unfortunately jackpot’s right. The U.S. has been “affording it” since 1967, and it won’t stop now. If you actually do explain the history with regard to international law I think you’ll come to the same conclusion, cynical as it is.
@shreddy_scientist Trying to water it down so they can vote for it without upsetting Israel? That’s not going to work. There is no way to have this both ways. Either everyone will feel the same as they do already or everyone will be upset.
You nailed it!! I’m thinking they are basically trying to neuter the proposal so they don’t have to veto it again while still keeping Lockheed and friends happy…
@shreddy_scientist If they can secure funding for Ukraine they can pull aid for Israel (Israel doesn’t actually need it, a lot of people don’t understand that) and then transfer that business to Ukraine. It will keep Lockheed et. al. happy, and get them invested in lobbying to set up a permanent stream of aid/military support to European countries bordering Russia.
This tactic works with great regularity. If it works, Biden will look like he’s helping to his low-information voting base, without significantly restraining Israel.
People don’t want to belive it’s possible. Whenever I tell friends and family about this they truly dont belive this will ever happen to them and if it does, they don’t want to understand the ramifications and just say it’s fine.
Most people have. I was hopeful that the extension on FISA / section 702 would get removed from the NDAA today but it looks like that failed 65-35. I suppose some hope still remains as it works it’s way through the house, and / or the extension ends.
Regarding the final piece, the global south already knows US integrity is a joke. At least the leadership is giving younger citizens a more accurate view of what US foreign policy actually looks like, conveniently under a “liberal” president.
He is what passes for a liberal in the US. Obama, either Clinton, nearly any other democrat would do exactly the same thing he is doing (which is unfortunately the same thing Trump would be doing). Strong echoes of the Iraq war.
Obama said he thinks his own policies are in line with Reagan. Biden falls to the right of that on some issues, including to the right of Reagan on Israel.
This war we started replacing missles, attacks, with “blasts”. Like the hospital attack was a “blast”. Like a gas line blew or an oopsie. Anytime they want to water down what happened it’s just a enigmatic “blast”.
Israeli line for civillian deaths “well that’s war”. The world will remember how casual Israel is about it’s genocide. It rolls off them like water.
Comparing 400 to ~110,000 is certainly one of the choices of all time. Pretty much all killing is heinous imo, especially in this instance, but could we leave the atomic bomb comparisons for elsewhere?
It’ll sound something like “Blast rocks Gaza scattering radioactive debris for miles. Biden says ‘That wasn’t good, guys’ as US deploys an additional carrier to the region. And now, sports.”
Intriguing takeaway, I’ll have to reread the detailed article demonstrating the many pro-Israeli constructs embedded into daily life and chew on it to confirm though.
Bolsonaro was a piece of shit by any standards and cannot be defended.
Lula and the other one were also fairly corrupt, not to excuse any of bolsonaro’s evil in any way. They didn’t help their people enough, so the right landowners just waited long enough for their chance to take everything back.
At the end of the day the Enfiteuse system has to be broken, because it’s an infinite power base the right always uses to get back into power, until its destroyed by hard land reform there is no point discussing much in Brazil, its like trying to discuss urban renewal in Pompei, the day the volcano exploded.
Stop blaming us, I doubt we like those pieces of shit either, you can’t do business with people who don’t believe they should ever pay for anything.
