IDF destroyed Israeli homes (with Israelis inside) when Hamas raided them on Oct 7, and now they are indiscriminantly bombing Gaza, including where the hostages might be. I don’t see the logic at all. It seems like they don’t care about Palestinian OR Israeli civilians.

I think they profile individuals and sell those profiles to ad companies, or in the case of google (ad company AND source of data) they pair ads to devices that fit a profile for the ad, like “rides a bike”, “risk averse”, “owns several cats” would be a profile for an ad selling cat bike seats that can hold 4 cats. That’s one way of using the data but there are many more, each more nefarious than the previous one, I guess culminating with Cambridge Analytica, especially their African endeavours.

Voting with our dollars is much more effective. Whenever possible, don’t buy evil. Evil is the cheaper option because they really need your support, or else they’re beached. This is a big reason for wage stagnation and a permanent underclass.

One way is to keep the plastic but make it out of something renewable instead of out of petroleum products. It can have the same short term properties but eventually disintigrate instead of turning into microplastics or releasing harmful particles when burned.

Reparations are given by the group who perpetrated violence to members of the group of victims of violence, even many generations later. I see what you mean though, a justification for the creation of Israel was that Jews have historically been persecuted and did not have a homeland, but to me that doesn’t fit the definition of reparations.
Yes, the UN had a partition plan that was rejected by the Arabs. The Arabs of the area were under the impression that one can’t make a country in the place where there is already a country (especially by giving the minority population a majority of the land), but before negotiations could proceed, Jewish militias came in and started blasting. Then they established the state of Israel and have been expanding ever since, rejecting any peace offers along the way.

Good point but it’s important to note that in the US, the state definitely interferes with “the market”, but only when power is threatened i.e. bailing out the banks instead of the mortgage holders in 2008, subsidies for fossil fuels and the meat industries, and other instances of protecting capital which would otherwise get a boo-boo should it be exposed to either free market forces or something like the efficiency of single payer health care.

We have at least some numbers. Last I checked (which I admit was weeks ago) the death toll in Gaza was 11,000 and Israel claimed to have killed 60-80 Hamas fighters. That’s over 99% civilian deaths, and we know a significan portion of those are children. On October 7th, Palestinian militant groups killed about 1,200 people in Israel, 859 of them civilians. That’s over 71% civilian deaths, ignoring the fact that most Israeli adults are reservists and so trained fighters.
