There's no safety, so you'd generally carry it on an empty chamber. It's also a bit hard to see on the original image, but there's a knife as well. The knife generally had dull sides and a sharp point, making it more of a stabbing weapon instead of a slicing one. You could use the knife on it's own, but it was more likely used in conjunction with the brass knuckles.
/r/Place has always had massive country flags whenever it ran. But the way I see it, the largest murals need the most people working on it, and getting many people involved means having them all be connected in some way, and country-of-origin is the easiest way to do that. Combine that with the fact that the biggest non-English communities on western social media like Reddit (and Lemmy too, now) tend to be German or French, and it's no surprise that the two largest murals are those flags.
You'd wish people would find something else to represent them and have fun with things like this, but people gravitate towards the largest groups they feel a part of. Low hanging fruit, I suppose.
@FaceDeer Do we? Or do we have lots of small groups in the same space?
It does seemthat Mastodon culture is different to Threadiverse culture. I'm OK with that, Mastodon is a little earnest for my tastes. It would be nice if we could keep the worst of Reddit out of here with robust moderation
There were plenty of smaller subreddits with distinct "cultures" over on Reddit as well. As you say, moderation is key. Moderation is a lot easier for smaller communities.
Reddit actively encouraged far right groups in the name of "engagement". Also, Huffman has never made a secret of his right wing leanings. Here we have a chance to keep out the fuckers by sane and consistent moderation. Also we don't have algorithms here that foment hate and divisiveness.
I uninstalled Relay yesterday. It was a good decade but time to move on.
I get that there are workarounds to patch apps and bypass NSFW which I could very easily avail myself of, but the more I consider it the more this whole drama has put me off Reddit as a platform, and really any centralised platforms. I could still use them but I just don't want to.. staying as an active user just feels like tacit endorsement of communities being decimated by a company that doesn't even pay the folks that actually keep them going.
Nsfw is also dead on mobile web. And just a reminder that nsfw isn't just porn, it's also cannabis and vape content, and likely other content that touched "sensitive" subjects.
I’d argue Memmy is pretty damn close! Wefwef is really nice and is probably closest to Apollo in terms of look and feel right now. Memmy already has some things over wefwef however such as multiple themes and push notifications. Honestly tho it’s all preferences and I’m just happy we have so many options in active development!
i'll admit, it would probably be healthier if you guys could move on now
like sure, keep posting about reddit stuff for the next month, there's probably relevant stuff to talk about, but there's no reason to obsess over spez this bad
as a sidenote, really hate how you need to tie either a google or facebook account to make a definition on this site
