Legally, if I tell the government to call me by X name and use Y pronouns, they must respect it.
Rapheal “loves-the-feeling-of-freshly-pissed-pants” Cruz, or as he is most commonly known, Piss Pants Cruz, doesnt like mandating respect for an individuals preferred form of address.
Google “israel rotting babies” the video has been circulating for days.
Israel as a whole has killed 4k+ children, that we are currently capable of counting, making up 40% of the deaths in Gaza.
Israel also recently divided Gaza into squares, and set them for systematic bombings, which multiple holocaust history professors and experts have said is near identical to german extermination division plans.
Youre defending child slaughter. Dont pussy out of that. Own up to it.
Unlike you Ive got a real job, that prevents me from googling gore videos.
Do you genuinely want me to send you the video after Im off work? Or did you want to pretend you were incapable of typing in the search words I gave you?
E: heads up everyone, the guy is just a racist, his other posts and comments give him away. He is apparently stoked that the kids are dying
Lol thats a lunatics take. You absolutely can be expected to pay every person who gives you content to farm users off of.
Imagine applying your take to any other business. “Sorry john, I loved the soap, but you only have 4 people a week asking about you, so Im going to be keeping it for free.”
“Love the scarf, really, but you only sold what, 25 this year? 50? Nah, Im just going to keep this. Let me now when you shift real sales, maybe then you will deserve being paid.”
Except thats incorrect. Spotify is a store, asking musicians to give them the rights to sell their songs as a package deal in exchange for a cut based on popularity. All music gets ads. There is no “low popularity ad free” section.
And now you, and spotify, are saying “yeah I know we agreed to pay you based on how many customers came in here for your stuff, but I think what you rightfully and legally earned is chump change, so I wont be giving it to you.”
You are advocating scamming people because you, personally, think the money owed is a pittance. Thats an evil, black hearted mentality.
“Its a sliding scale, we want your content but we dont want to pay you for it, so if we think youre not popular enough to take us to court over this we are sliding the scale of how much we pay you for the content to zero”
You sound like an evil cartoon robin hood villain, do you get that? Are you floating about in chains and a nightgown, in preperation for scaring jeff bezos this christmas eve?
“Nah its like youtube bro, the other super evil and morally bankrupt company!” Thats not a defense, why are you saying that like its a defense
That cost is paid 100000000000000x over from the other artists they are underpaying. If this was really such an issue of cost, and not penny pinching, they would have a filter for content that isnt played enough and remove it from the service.
Why dont they? Because they cost is almost nil, its covered a thousand times over by the money gained from the platform, and they just want to keep more cash from the people they know cant fight back.
His point doesnt apply to spotify. They arent a struggling indie service trying to cover server costs. Massive super star artists frequently complain about penny pinching from spotify. Theyre just greedy.
Cool story bro, it has nothing to do with spotify ripping off artists.
Good for you that youre okay with being ripped off by spotify? I guess? But we arent talking about what immoral actions you are willing to ignore to further your potential career.
People are willingly paying spotify either monthly or via ads to listen to these artists. They have paid for the art. Spotify doesnt want to give the earned cut. Your willingness to give up your fair share in the hopes of future recognition is a personal decision, but that doesnt make it right. It just means you, personally, arent willing to fight off the boot on your chest.
Which is the mentality spotify is counting on to get away with ripping off you and everyone else who cant afford lawyers.
I dont have any content on spotify, but thats neither relevant nor the point.
This isnt immoral or wrong because it is negative for me, directly and specifically. Its not okay to rip off artists until Im the one ripped off. Its wrong to do to anyone.
Did they stop teaching that in schools, or something? What brain rot is this? Do you stand by and twiddle thumbs when you see someones purse get nabbed? Do you cheer, cause the theif got a windfall?
Thats an odd lie, as youve already stated that you do not value art paid for on spotify if it isnt popular enough.
People have spent money on this art, that spotify is now refusing to pay for. You have repeatedly stated you think that money isnt deserved, despite being paid.
Right now, downvotes (reduces) don't federate to (and from?) Kbin instances. This lack of federation makes the downvote counter really inaccurate—a comment that looks like it's +10 might be -15 when you look at it from lemmy.world....
Ill be honest, voting being public is a big deterrent from kbin for me, after having experiences in the past of having people harass me on the assumption that I had downvoted their content.
The risk of being targeted for harassment over a downvote basically cements kbin as an unusable platform for me.
E: And, on thinking about it? It also has me doubting the quality of kbin sourced content. Downvotes on reddit style forums, which this is, work as a community driven content filter. Actively discouraging the use of that filter means higher quality posts are harder to discern. And sifting through more chaff per good post is not appealing.
That just drives me to use instances that dont federate with instances who show that information.
Like. Lets apply that logic elsewhere. I could make an instance that makes your ip address public, because that information is also available. Could stick it next to your username.
Would you use that service? Or do you prefer using an instance who keeps the information they can access private?
Yes, thank you, obviously my exaggerated example to highlight the point was exaggerated. But you get my point, yes?
E: here, since you responded my just describing the function of how votes work. Lets try a different example.
Servers can track what posts you look at. That is something they can do, and many websites do. Would you be pleased to have every single post you viewed listed on your profile?
Not having downvotes at all makes the exact reason I dont like kbin even worse. A lack of downvotes is, in part, what made facebook so vividly toxic and rife with hate speech and fake news. When a site lacks upper moderation and a method of inter-community moderation, there is no way to filter out bad content and bad users.
Removing downvotes is something wanted by people who dont want content filtered. Showing downvotes is something wanted by people who want to weaken filters. Weak or nonexistent filters is what allows the worst aspects of the internet to fester and rot.
I did literally say I am drawn towards instances that would refuse to federate with privacy free instances, which includes the ones that make votes public. In the exact same way I would not want federation with instances that make your ip or view history public.

Thats actually genuinely very adorable
For the passers by, Im a “sea lion” because I dont agree with cheese’s belief that the apollo dev is obligated to make their work open source.
And, I guess, they dont like how much I swear? Didnt think a few fucks was a big deal between adults, guess I was wrong? I dunno, this is hilarious harassment tho

I mean, she was the face of a pretty massive talk show for a long time. She was the housewife jimmy fallon.
Do you consider any talk show host a nobody? Or just the ones on shows not aired in your country? Im sure theres plenty of famous auzzies and kiwis youve grown up seeing on tv that most people have never heard of, doesnt make them a nobody.
A lot of these games are working off of an assumed learned collective memory.
Think of movies, and their tropes. How do you understand that when a movie cuts to black for a second, and then suddenly shows a new location, that we did not just teleport? That the black cut indicates the end of a scene, and the start of a new one?
Think of how many games assume you know which button pauses, which opens the menu, which buttons move the character and which ones make you jump. Now, add another layer of controls. And another.
BG3 is also working with an assumed collective memory from DnD. Assuming you already learned about class vs race, and cantrips vs lvl spells, and turn order, etc.
It sucks when you miss large games that establish these things, but its also how art forms evolve. Games just dont yet have a way to easily re-teach them.
Often, yes, but not always, and thats only become a recent trend.
And just as many games dont, or only explain where their controls differ from the cultural expectations.
It applies to mechanics too, but thats harder to talk about without actual examples in front of you, and I dont have any good contrast examples off the top of my head
A doctor suggests a solution, via direct supplements.
The parents ask if they can try dietary first, because they are correctly nervous about direct supplementation for an infant even if it is needed, and want to go for a safer option first if possible.
The doctor sees that the situation could also be solved via dietary supplementation, and is not so severe as to require direct supplements only, and says yes. Lets start with dietary.
The baby gets better, because dietary solved the problem.
Decades later, an internet troll tries to pretend that asking for alternatives and discussing your options with your doctor is akin to anti vax mentality, while drinking heartily from a solid lead mug.
Here, real medicine was practiced, and then someone who doesnt actually know what they are talking about tried to shame a parent for doing the completely normal thing of discussing options with their doctor
