It’s so annoying. The people I follow keep complaining about musk. Their followers keep telling them to move to Mastodon. But they don’t. What are they scared of? They’ll lose followers? Because I’m pretty sure if they switch and put a link on their twitter, a lot will follow.
At least there’s a bird.makeup instance that reposts tweets to mastodon so you can follow them there, but you can’t interact with them.
what’s the problem with a plurality? in other countries this happens all the time and parties need to work together (i think this is called a coalition) to reach a majority

It was such a vile move to claim the name meta. Before that, both “meta” and “metaverse” had a very different meaning and it has drastically changed since then.
I’ve been using a third party app for Reddit since forever. Taking that away was, for me, equivalent to taking Reddit away as a whole. I had to change either way so then I’d rather change to a different platform than change to the crappy official app.
It’s because the hot comment sorting algorithm is different from Reddit’s. It favours fresh discussions over older threads even if they have more upvotes.
I’d rather like this platform to have a slow and steady growth rather than a massive peak which is unbearable for the servers, immediately sending lemmy to the graveyard.
