Younger users of Lemmy: Did you ever love a game that you just really sucked at?

So I was watching a few youtubes and remembered how the vast majority (of like the ten) nes games me and my sister had were hard as all hell. I loved to play Little Nemo and Street Fighter 2010 but I am pretty sure I never made it past the third level of either. Let alone infamously hard games like The Lion King....

spooksboots,

I always felt like the way you need to be playing AoE to be competitively good defeated the purpose of the game for me. It ends up become a rush of min maxing, as opposed to what I loved about the game which was building and designing empires and armies.

spooksboots,

Because it makes them money. See, monolithic companies don’t care about anything other than money and pleasing shareholders. The only way they will ever care about real life issues is if/when they transform into loss of revenue or pressure from their board of directors.

spooksboots,

I think it’s a little about how they don’t know better either, and there’s no better options. You and I remember when multiplayer games used to be great, but if nowadays they’re all shit, what option do they have?

spooksboots,

This is not an argument about whether or not the stats are accurate but: I think they’re talking about the US, not the world.

spooksboots,

I… Don’t think that stat refers to you

Does "Selfhosted" mean you actually have a server at home?

I’m trying to better understand hosting a Lemmy Instance. Lurking discussions it seems like some people are hosting from the Cloud or VPS. My understanding is that it’s better to futureproof by running your own home server so that you have the data and the top most control of hardware, software etc. My understanding is that...

spooksboots,

I mean, as long as you patch regularly and keep backups, you should be good enough. That’s most of what responding to a zero day is, anyway, patching.

spooksboots,

Perhaps it’s a kung fu staff stick
